Re: Daiwa's New Workhorse Has Thoroughbred Tendencies : Tatu
Got mine from TW today. I'm just about to pull it apart and add four bearing. Interestingly no bearing on the spool, big change for Daiwa. Don't remember the review talking about it not have the standard Daiwa speed spool design, maybe I missed. I think we all missed that shame on Daiwa [-X I'm sur...

Berkley Big Game Digital Lip Grip http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Berkley_Big_Game_Lip_Grip_with_Digital_Scale/descpage-BBGLGDS.html Mixed reviews on the accuracy of the digital scale. The grip part must be pretty good though. Only saw one negative review on it I think. There is also one for cheaper ...

Re: Daiwa TaTula
I just wrote a lenghty multi-point review on this reel and when I went to post it, I had timed out or something and had to log back in. Post was lost. Not a happy camper. So for now I will just say this - this reel may very well be the best multi-purpose bass reel ever made. It's that good . Better...

Re: digital fish scales
Well I used spring scales for years and I decided to get a digi. I was looking at some high end scales but took a shot at the 50 lb. Rapala scale (I think it was around $30). I figured it was going to be out one way or another (because of so many user reviews of various brands) and that I would jus...

Re: JDM Tatula on the way?
Well looking at the differences in the Calcutta D, the JDM reel could have all kinds of differences...mag3d perhaps? X2----A T3MX paint job and 3dMag would be Great! ---throw in a SV spool and I would go $300+ for it. Sign me up as well. Add a 100mm RCS carbon fiber handle and I'll go $350. DaveJ

Re: Omen reel seat
I love it and hate it. It fits my hand perfectly except for that little extra bit of graphite that is on the bottom of the blank in front of the trigger. I actually busted out a fine toothed hack saw this weekend and carefully removed it making it a bit like a minima trigger now. A little carving wi...

Re: reel to pair with Dobyns 705cb glass
I have decided on a 705cb glass, so I am looking for suggestions on a reel to pair with it. Something under $ 300. I just about pulled the trigger on the 705cb glass myself. I had planned to put a Zillion Coastal on it with a set of 4.9 gears from Tackle Trap. Decided to wait on the Tatula instead ...

Re: T3 SV 8.1R-TW Initial Thoughts
Been using Daiwa T3 SV 8.1 for about two weeks. So far only positive experience. Exceptional caster, put around 60 yard mono with some backing ( didn't knot backing and mono), on long cast position, was able to cast all line out with Super Spook on it, had to ask a guy with the boat to get my bait ...

Re: Time to test the Tatula !!!
Looking at the pics on Tacklewarehouse, the spool and tension knob appear to be kind of a weird rose, gunmetal type color. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Daiwa_Tatula_100_Casting_Reel/descpage-DTTO.html Tackle Warehouse has some nice pics. Unfortunately the Mag Dial is not in any of them. The cast ...

Re: New HawgTech Swept Handles with matching parts...
Count me in as interested in a swept carbon fiber handle that is 100mm post to post that has Daiwa Knob Posts, and accepts Daiwa Style Anodized Nuts with separate Retainers. I really liked the 2011/2012 swept Semper Fi handles. They discontinued those and I'm not as keen on the new model. They also ...

Re: digital fish scales
I have a Cul-M-Rite that I bought some 20 years ago. Still working as good as new, as I take care of it. Keep some sachets of Dry Gel in the box which keeps moisture away. Expensive, but worth every dollar IMO. Good idea with the dry gel. I have a bunch of extra silica packets I just found a use fo...

Re: TATULA TYPE R
What Is the difference between the regular tatula and the type r? Is it worth the extra 50 dollars? Lighter spool, crbb spool bearings, red anodized accents, and a zaion drag star. I think it's worth the money. I think both models have a Zaion drag star and thumb bar. The review / write up stated t...

Someone needs to make the kid a custom rod with a thread pattern above the fore grip that matches his shorts. Something to commemorate the occasion.

I haven't heard of many surviving more than a season or two. Just buy whatever is on sale.wcbjr1 wrote:What is the best scale to have in your boat ?
A better tool with a built-in scale that will last a long time is a Boga Grip
