That’s probably not going to fit on any modern freshwater rods. I would look for a saltwater rod. Maybe something like a
G-Loomis green water or Penn carnage will work.

Re: 1000 size shimanos
I use 2 stradic 1000's for trout fishing only. I would never use anything heavier than 6lb test diameter line on them. They balance almost perfectly with a 6'7 G-loomis trout rod.

Replacing a reel seat
I am interested in replacing the handle on my Cumara spinning rod. It has the skeleton reel seat which I hate. I understand when they make rods the reel seat is put on from the tip. Will it be possible to put a reel seat on from the bottom without damaging the rod? I have no interest in replacing th...

Re: What have you lost while fishing?
Back in the late 90's I lost a G-Loomis IMX paired with a cheap Shimano spinning reel. I was carp fishing in the middle of winter and wasn’t paying attention when a fish pulled it in. I was 16 years old and that rod was my pride and joy. I remember how much it sucked having to use a cheap rod for th...

Re: Curado I Grinding Problem
Update: After taking apart all 3 reels for a more careful inspection I noticed there were drag washer particles scattered everywhere. Most were the size of dust particles but there were a few like the one pictured below. They had gotten onto the main & idle gears. I cleaned and re-lubricated and now...

Re: Curado I Grinding Problem
The fact that it comes and goes makes it difficult to diagnose. Would say it’s not the gears since you would feel it on every revolution of the main or pinion gears. I agree. I was messing around with one of them last night and I noticed that it felt like something was rubbing. I could feel it in t...

Re: Curado I Grinding Problem
Have you checked the actual drag washer for defects? Yes, they are uniform with no defects. In this particular scenario it doesnt sound like it, but they are common for pinion bearings to be bad. Both of them get changed out if factory when one comes along my bench for a service. I have seen them m...

Re: Curado I Grinding Problem
Time for a new gear set. This reel has become notorious for getting geary with use. I believe the Engetsu micro module gears fit if the 70 and 200I share the same gear set. I'll consider that if I can't fix it. ShimanoFan: It's not the spool pin. I switched out the spool with a good reel. I also ju...

Re: Curado I Grinding Problem
I own 7 of the Curado I series and 3 of them have developed a grinding feel on the retrieve....Anyone know a fix? Buy a Daiwa. If it makes you happy I own 4 Daiwa Certate's. :big grin: I experienced something similar on one of my Curado i reels. I pulled the spool and recentered the pin and h...

Curado I Grinding Problem
I own 7 of the Curado I series and 3 of them have developed a grinding feel on the retrieve. It comes and goes, if the drag is pulled out a little it will come back. Then I pull the drag a little more and it goes away. You can really feel it while using a crankbait. I disassembled one and couldn’t s...

Re: Round reel love?
2- Calcutta TE-GT’s 1-Conquest I just completed the yearly service on these beauties. There’s something timeless about a round reel. Some people think I’m weird but I actually think round reels are more comfortable to use than low profile reels. If there’s ever a zombie apocalypse and I can only fis...
