Re: How many rods?

Depends on what I'm fishing for and which kayak I'm in. If I'm bass fishing in a lake and in the Pro Angler I'll have 6 or 7 with me. If i'm in a faster river fishing for bass I'll be in the Coosa and have 3-4 max usually. If I'm striper fishing 3 max you want to be ready if the big one takes off. C...

Re: First fishing kayak

You'll be fine just keep your space, and if you drop an anchor on one just pull the anchor and slowly paddle away.

Re: First fishing kayak

Congrats on your 1st fishing kayak. Let's see some fishy pictures. I wish I would have known about fishing from a kayak years ago also, but the last 3 years have been a blast.

Re: El GRANDE SOFT BAITS

My wife picked up some Gila Monster's about 2 years ago, and really likes them. We have used them in Tennessee Reserivors, Florida Lakes, and Indiana Strip-Pits. She even caught a baby alligator on the Gilla Monster while on a Florida trip. The quality is great, they are durable, and flexable. We ha...

A weekend to remember German Browns, Smallmouth, Stripers

What a great weekend I had with Ben, and Sarah. I caught my personal best striper, and Sarah caught her first Brown Trout. We will be going back for Sarah's Striper. Ben is a great guide, very knowledgable, loves to share information, and lots of it. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-fD7TFLbughQ/Tk...

Re: kayak fishing pfd

Sorry for the delayed reply. Here is the rear view of the Solaris F Spec the F stands for Fishing. It;s a high back PFD that should feel comfortable when sitting in the kayak. http://www.google.com/url?source=imgres&ct=img&q=http://www.gowiththeflow.com/productcart/pc/catalog/f-spec-khaki-grey-back_...

The MTI Adventureware Solaris F Spec is a great PFD designed with the angler in mind, and only $72 at Hook 1.

Re: carrier question

When it's my wife and I and we are traveiling distance we are usually taking the Honda Accord with Yakima Bars and 1 - J-Cradle. One kayak fits in the J-Cradle and the other upside down on the bars, the J-Cradle allows us to place 2 kayaks on the roof. If it's just me and I'm traveling it's just the...

Re: hobie mirage pro angler

I have two Hobie Pro Angler's, well actually one is mine and the other is my wife's. These were our 1st kayaks, and we were in love from first sight. We fished a lot out of them the 1st year in small to large lakes. Then we discovered small to large creeks and what they had to offer and found a lot ...

Re: Spinning Reels used while Kayaking

I use Stradic 2500's, and my wife uses the Stradic CI4's (2500,1000, and 1000ml) reels. We put over 1000 hrs on them last year, and almost 100hrs on them this year with 30hrs in salt this year, and have only had one 1000 series Saraha bind (had less than 20hrs on it). Sent the Sahara to Shimano, and...
