Re: MBR 843GLX vs. Dobyns Champion 704c split grip.
I own both the 843glx and the dx704c and the 843 has a softer tip than the 704. The 704 may have a softer tip than your used to, but your not going to hurt the rod with a 3/8 jig. I fish a 1/2 oz jig with no problem, with plenty of power in the lower half of the rod. The tip of the 704 rod just make...

Re: Dobyns DX 703c
Hold on! I'm an idiot. I don't own a DX703C anymore. I was thinking DX703S....... Even though I'm an idiot, I do know that the DX703C 'fast' action is more like an MBR than a BCR. You mean that the xf dx703c fishes more like a mbr. I also have a dx703s and yep its a fast rod. thanks for...

Re: Dobyns DX 703c
Yeah, my xf dx 704 definitely doesn't fish as fast as my xf gloomis rods or st croix rod.civicrr wrote:Hmmmm. I'll check my rod in a little bit. It doesn't seem like fishes 'x-fast' to me. Then again, the Dobyns fast aren't as fast as a lot of brands.

Re: Dobyns DX 703c
Ok, thanks. I was wondering because, my DX 704c has extra fast on the rod even though the Dobyns website has it listed as fast.

Dobyns DX 703c
Is the Dobyns DX 703c fast or extra fast? The Dobyns website lists this rod as fast but the Tackle Warehouse website lists this rod as extra fast. Is this rod more like a Gloomis MBR 843 or BCR 803/853?

Re: Skippin bait shimano and/or daiwa
I have had better luck with skipping with daiwa reels, but it can be done with both shimano and daiwa.
Either way, it takes lots of practice to get better at it.

Re: Daiwa Steez SVF-XBD Frog Rod Question
The Steez XBD Frog rod is stiff all the way to the tip. It doesn't have a flexible tip for throwing lighter baits.

Re: Matching rod for the Scorpion 1000XT
The Gloomis SBR rods are a close match. I have my 1001xt on a SBR 751 a nice match for light spinnerbaits.
But the xt reel does look pretty sweet on the matching scorpion rod.

I wouldn't put stickers on any of my reels. Then again, I don't like bumper stickers either.

Re: Steez xbd frog rod
I have only fished with this rod once so far. But it seem like it would handle flipping and pitching pretty well.
Its not a true flipping rod, but it handles jigs very nicely.
