Travis, I'm with you. Seems the younger guys I talk to can't understand why you would want one but I certainly miss them on all the newer reels.
Agreed sir, but I hooked up the horse and buggy to go to work this morning.

Always a pleasure and hope you’re well.

Re: Daiwa spinning reels

I wish someone said their new Daiwa/Shimano spin had an anti-reverse switch. I’ve officially been labeled an old timer by both makers.

Re: Do you plan on buying the iPhone of reels aka the Z Limitbreaker?

no need any kind of stats tracking crap. It is interesting that we can be so different. I would love to get stat tracking in every one of my reels. I never went for a DC reel before as normal brakes were working just fine. On the other hand I would love to analyze my fishing sessions. In the future...

Re: Favorite braid for spinning reels

No complaints with Nanobraid off bottom. I’ve used it since it first came out for mid column presentations (spy, hair). All I fish are smallmouth. Zero handling issues and 4-6lb has handled some big river fish without worry. I run the 131 for bottom contact.

Re: Rod pairing with Stella FK

Absolutely agreed sir. I have a Certate on my MML for the same reason you pointed out. I run Exists on my other Steez AGS spins and Black Labels. I look forward to getting my hands on the 6’10” L - SMT next month. I have tested the prototypes of the new 610L Steez AGS. The production model is sweet...

Re: Rod pairing with Stella FK

I'm a huge fan of the Steez AGS 76MML as well, both in the original blue and the current red trimmed model. I find that as much as the 22 Exist LT is an incredible reel, it is too light for that specific rod. I have a Certate LT 3000CXH on my red trimmed 76MML. I don't have the Stella FK, but can i...

Re: Rod pairing with Stella FK

The 872s isn’t exactly a long cast rod if after some distance. It does excel at feeling bottom contact however. It’s been my tube rod choice for river smallmouth for a decade with 1/4 inserts. The 901s will be under powered with 1/4 oz and paddle tail. The 902S NRX would bomb cast a 1/4. The 7’3 Cro...

Re: NRX 901 SJR question

1/8 plus a spark shad is too much for the 901. The 902 would be a better choice (the ratings are a bit high on it). I’ve fished both a ton for smallmouth.

there's a post on seth feider's instagram with a silver spinning rod with cork. if you click thru the pics, the last one is apparently a buddy of his with a rod laying down. it may just be an old tdx rod, but it is full cork.
Yup old tdx.

A lot in my hands but I have been throwing each for years. What’s right for me may not be right for anyone else including yourself. I would recommend throwing the baits and arriving at your conclusions. If I had to venture a guess it is that you’ll end up with two rods for these techniques if you fi...

Re: Maribou and Ned rod

Two different rods in my opinion not only for two very different techniques but given that weight range. This and wet Maribou will be way way heavier than dry Yeah I’m familiar with marabou, buck tail, fox, ‘yote etc for a few decades and only fishing smallmouth. I was unsure if 1/16 was intended f...

Re: What's it gonna be? 22 Stella or 22 Exist

Anyone know which Exist models might be included in the US market lineup? It looks like the Finesse Custom designation has been consolidated back into the standard model sizes but the new power custom was added on the other end of the spectrum. You know I know. Unfortunately sometimes I can’t discl...
