Re: ABEC 9 Bearings?
On Boca's wedsite they have an article where they were trying to quantify the difference upgrading to OS bearings. http://bocabearings.com/dropin.aspx?f=Do-BOCA-BEARINGS-really-make-a-difference.txt&utm_source=BB_site&utm_medium=link&utm_campaign=BB_make_difference Of course, you could always quest...

Re: Best aluminum "finesse" casting reel?
The Curado 50e is pretty hard to beat for finesse casting because it's spool weighs less than 11 g empty and around 18-19 g with mono. I don't know off hand any reel that has a lighter spool, you pretty much have to get an after-market spool to get something as light or lighter. JM Carbonlite will ...

Re: ABEC 9 Bearings?
I can only add that the Shimano rep, Bantam1, has said that a baitcaster does not spin fast enough to warrant ABEC 9 bearings. He also doubts the advantage on ABEC 7 bearing over a quality ABEC 5's. i have tested that 'theory' over and over again...only to find each time that it could not be furthe...

Re: Help with braid
Some things that come to mind - 1.Spool too full -if too full the line going out will grab line on spool and pull it of cause knots tangle. 2.Close reel by hand give a little tug on line- line is limp & at times a little section will/could go over top of spool and not on the linelay thus when you ca...

So basically you are just asking if the Pat is worth the $160-$200 depending where purchased. From all reports/reviews -yes.

Re: Berkely Nanofil Opinions...
I've not had any issues with a doubled uni . Yes Ive been using this knot as well and it works very well 9# knot strength with 6# line set drag to do the work. Most of my thoughts are the same as above. Great casting distance it for sure has caught me fish I couldnt get to using braid. I think the ...

Re: Shimano 50 series reels
Did you clean the excess oil from the spool and frame? From the center of the pinion gear? Try casting something really light with both reels and report what you find then... Muskyhunter hope this info helps you as well. I went and compare my 50E spool & bearings cleaned lubed to '12 Jm Carbonlite ...

Re: Shimano 50 series reels
have you ever cleaned/lubed your 50E, especially the bearings? I put Orange Seals in mine the day I got it, and it's always been a great performer. Yes put bearings in bearing blaster with acetone spray, soaked in acetone 4hrs, bearing blaster again, soaked 1 more hour, lubed with RIM oil. The bear...

Re: Shimano 50 series reels
very intrigued...where is the best place to buy from? Take a peek at the Scorpion 1000XT. Very similar to the Core 50MG. (I have both and cannot decide which I like better). Performance-wise very close to the Core. Aluminum vs. Magnesium. Nice color and a JDM for about $100 less than the Core 50. h...
