Re: In search of new rod for 3/8oz+trailer light hook jig

I purchased a couple of the new Dobyns Extreme HP models and two weeks ago I was using the DX743C HP for 1/4 oz. Keitech Model I jigs with a Missile Bait trailer and 14 pound Sunline Sniper on a Daiwa Steez SV. The 743 loaded nice and pitched that setup really nice and the rod had plenty of back bon...

Re: Keitech jigs

I have good success on my local waters with the Keitech Model 1, and I also just had a great week at Lake Gaston, NC pitching/skipping a 1/4 oz. Model 1 with a Missle craw and boated numerous bass with a couple of hugging four pounds. Used a new Dobyns DX743C with 16lb. Sunline Sniper fluoro. . . th...

Re: Picking up Dobyns dx745c....uses?

Just arrived and WOW it balances and looks nice with my steez with orange SV spool. The tip action and new reel seat screw reminds me of the older GLX's when they had wiebe reel seats. So when did they start calling them Champion Extreme "HP" ??? Does that just refer to the new real seat and rod bl...

Re: Help with longer moderate chatterbait, blade rod

If you're considering a Dobyns, take a look at the new Champion series rod they are coming out with - a 736CB Glass

Re: What swim jig and lipless crank rod do u use and why?

I like a Dobyns Champion 733, for 1/4 - 3/8 light wire jigs and a Champion 734, for 3/8 - 1/2 jig with a beefier hook.

Re: Boxes/Bags

I also use the Cabelas bags.… in regards to the bag getting wet from rain, I carry a plastic trash big enough to fully encase the tackle bag. One other thing that I do when I'm a non-boater; if there's a pedestal seat on the back deck, I will put the seat pedestal through the tackle bags carrying st...

Re: Sunline Super FC Sniper and Palomar knot.

I Marshaled in the Delaware River Elite event and had a conversation about knots and Fluorocarbon with two different pro's. According to both, the best knot to use with Fluorocarbon is the San Diego Jam knot. Both pro's stated that Flourocarbon cuts into itself and that the SDJ knot is the only knot...

Re: Braid-Fluoro.

I've been using straight fluoro for senkos, caffeine shads, ect. And was thinking maybe going to braid with fluoro leader on spinning rod-need to know if this set up would change the action, fall rate, ect. Thanks for any info in advance As others have mentioned, you will get more slack line using spin...

Re: TD Zillion Casting vs Zillion TWS

Thanks guys, you both bring up valid points. As 21farms pointed out; "palm their reels with all their fingers under the rod" well that's me, so the width does not bother me as much as the height of the reel. Unfortunately I do not know of any stores within my area that carries the reels mentioned.....

Re: TD Zillion Casting vs Zillion TWS

...what I'm trying to understand is; the profile of the new Zillion reel comparable to the older TD Zillion profile here's the side profile of a tatula compared to the original zillion...they're practically the same in terms of overall height and how they sit on the rod (the tat extends just a litt...

Re: TD Zillion Casting vs Zillion TWS

I have older zillions and several zillion variants. I ordered the new zillion tw and received it a couple of weeks ago and i'm very impressed with it so far. The reel palms very nice and i can't tell much difference palming wise. The reel is very smooth, very solid and casts like a dream. Only thin...
