Re: 2013 Metanium, 2015 Aldebaran, or Core 50MG (JDM Aldebar

I'll be the odd man out here. Although I don't own the new aldebaran yet, I do own the other two. If I had to take one, I would take the core 50. It's tough to beat the gearing and handle on the met but as far as comfortability, I will take the core all day. The core seems to instill confidence in m...

Re: Decent Crank Rod That Won't Break The Bank

I just bought the 13 envy 7'4". I have a couple Powell 706 which are great for shallow cranks but I'm hoping the bigger envy wil give me some distance and handle deeper cranks at the same time. Can't give you much for an actual on the water test but you were looking for something affordable and I'm ...

Re: New Aldebaran 50 on TW website

Hmmm... Now you have me thinking. I would think with the lightweight, gears and such are machined down to nothing which in turn makes the reel feel less smooth and possibly cheap in a persons hands. After a little time on the water it may smooth out. Did it seem comfortable to palm? I really like th...

Re: New Aldebaran 50 on TW website

I'm planning on picking up a couple and I would love to hear everyone's opinions. I have a few core 50's and they are the finest reels I have ever used. I picked up a couple metaniums last year but the 50 sized reels really melt my butter. These new Aldebarans look to be another wonderful Shimano pr...

Re: Custom Painting Reels

The problem isn't painting them, its what they look like after a month of use if done improperly. Its really tough to have paint stick to aluminum and magnesium without using a proper chemical process. If you want a shelf queen, by all means do what you like, If your going to use the reel, I would t...

Re: Custom Painting Reels

Don't do it. It's the only advice I can give. If you have to do it, look into a product called cerakote used for painting Guns.

Re: New Aldebaran 50 on TW website

Are there any other places taking preorders for 335.00. Looks like I'm a bit late at Japantackle. I need 2 if anyone knows where they can be had for that price.

Re: StradicCI4+ or Sustain

I agree, both exceptional reels. The difference for me was the amount of time I planned on using the reels. I couldn't justify letting 350.00 reels sit in my rod lockers hoping to get some use out of them. CI4+ gets my vote.

I love all of mine! I have been through just about everything and the 50 cores are the finest reels I have come across. They just work!

Yes, I should have said something between 7'1 and 7'11. I would like to see something around 7'3,7'4.

I would love to see a couple of Glx Cranking rods in something shorter than 7'11. Just throwing it out there.

Re: Metanium 100 rubber piece on clutch bar.

Wondering if this has been addressed yet? The solution should be simple. Do not overhang rubber on a thumbar. Make them exactly like the core. Rubber in the middle. I believe the best product for regluing would be a product called Loctitie Max. Its a bit expensive but it is the same product Ranger b...

Re: Metanium 100 rubber piece on clutch bar.

Add 3 more reels to the list. Did someone say when a replacement will be available? I don't care for the sharp front edge of the rubber. Just needs to be softened slightly.
