Re: Shimano reel names
Literally this is the worst name ever assigned to a shimano reel. I seriously doubt I’ll buy one. Mainly because I have the fl stradics and don’t need one. But honestly I think I would actually pass on this reel because of the name. Guy in other boat: “Hey, what ya fishing with over there?” Me: A va...

Re: Scratched up my Bantam, what can I do?
If I scratch a reel I sell it at a considerable discounted price and re buy the reel. One way to look at it- would u pay $25 or even $50 not to have the scratches on it? I had a new conquest 100hg fresh from japan- dropped it and put two very tiny blemishes on it- I couldn’t live with it so I showed...

Re: Bantam MGL sensitive to spool filling?
I find that the bantam and most Shimano reels will perform best with the following the line capacity maxed out (not overfilled) 2-3 brakes Spool tension just enough to keep the spool from having play side to side And finally a tiny drop of reel x on each end of the spool tip and where the brakes con...

Re: '19 Scorpion MGL 150
Abu, Lews, most bps reels, browning and some others are all made by pure fishing which are all copies of each other anyway. Most have interchangeable parts and I have to work on quite a few. (High school fishing team) Usually when I open one up and show a customer all the plastic for the thumb actuat...

Re: 2019 Shimano reels -
I agree. I wish they would at least do a dc reel in a 70 size. That would be sweet. I feel like the dc would shine with a jerkbait, however the reels they offer it in are what i would consider big for throwing a jerkbait. I like the ald 50.

Re: Should I get 872s or 902s NRX
Yes, and the same can be done on float n fly rods. I'm not saying it's ineffective. I'm just saying it is a very soft rod. I like a rod that stays stiff when i try to move the bait. I can just feel the bottom better. Its all personal preference. I was just trying to give the op some insight. When i ...

Re: Should I get 872s or 902s NRX
The 902 is a noodle.
I have the 852 and love it. I bought the 902 and luckily they let me take it back. I haven't had a chance to handle the 872. The 902 is SOFT. I would certainly handle one before purchase.
