Re: Rapala New super realistic colors
If you guys like that Sucker pattern you will really like the Perch, Smelt and Crappie efforts as , to me, they are a superior representation of what the real thing looks like. The X-Rap does have a better prism eye however. They are very good baits all round as well. For Musky guys up here if they ...

Rapala New super realistic colors
Just returned from the Toronto fishing show and the only thing that was of interest was new Live Series Rapala hardbait colours. The ones I saw were Perch, Crappie and Smelt in the Husky Jerk, Rippin' Rap and Shad Rap RS (including the jointed version). The X Raps had a Sucker color. The Perch, Crap...

Re: The Search For One : Guess Who's Back Building Rods?
Thanks Tokugowa. That explanation makes a lot of sense to me and shows that you were not sleeping through physics class. The utility of a spiral wrap on a Bass rod can be debated however in my experience it's best to be prepared with equipment that can handle unexpected visitors that might show up a...

Re: The Search For One : Guess Who's Back Building Rods?
I once broke a new rod on the second cast and, in the same week, I broke the replacement an hour in to fishing a few days later. They were both Berkley series One 9' casting rods. I had to go back to Li'l Abner casting academy after that .

Re: Here's one for ya'll
Steve try a Nils Master Invincible. I use them for trout and Walleye's. They are an excellent bait. Another great balsa bait is the Alex Lures Costa stickbait. That Serbian firm also makes balsa Ritmo and Tango cranks that are killer for all species but especially trout or salmon. Not surprising sin...

Re: The Search For One : Guess Who's Back Building Rods?
I'm not an engineer however my spiral wrapped casting rod was a much better caster than a traditionally wrapped casting rod of the same length. Granted my rod was a 10'6" one and I threw mainly large #4 and #5 sized spinners, 3/4oz spoons and large slip floats known as "pikers" rigged with pencil le...

Re: The Search For One : Guess Who's Back Building Rods?
I looked at GLX crankin rods and they appear to have a traditional trigger handle setup. Perhaps there could be an explanation of the comment? As far as acid wrapping I for one having used one, think that there's a difference. If my thoughts about it converge with Gary Loomis's thoughts about it the...

Re: The Search For One : Guess Who's Back Building Rods?
I don't know about 7' rods that are for catching Bass but I had an acid wrapped 10'6" G Loomis casting rod for species like Chinook salmon and Steelhead and the difference is astounding for that application. I can't believe that there are not more spiral wrapped rods from manufacturers and I also kn...

I hate split grips myself. Full cork, decent cork if it's $500 too.

Re: The Search For One : Guess Who's Back Building Rods?
Looks like a beauty rod. Love the acid wrap. I would love to hook a screaming Chinook with that 8' cranking rod. On the longer rods I notice they use a reel seat with no trigger. Is this a new trend I've missed?

Re: Rapala and "New" Concept rods.
Handled a Concept Ti 7'2" MH casting rod today at Sail (they had one rod from this entire line) and just as CdnBasshunter says it's tip heavy. Probably would be just right with a regular full cork handle but it doesn't have the full cork handle its got a foam handle and it's not the greatest because...

Re: Rapala and "New" Concept rods.
What is actually typical here is the quality of individual that turns up in retail management, ie. not the sharpest knife in the drawer. You have seen an R Type years ago and Concepts 3 months ago, well bully for you. This thread and the launch of Concept TI rods started in 2011. Rapala is not a jug...

Re: Rapala and "New" Concept rods.
I only had a look at shorter rods. That's why I did not buy at this time. The 6'7" casting rod, medium power was SWEET but probably a little too short for me. I see they have 7'2" casting rods in the line up so I'm not buying until I see those pieces. I believe there's a 7'6" spinning as well. They ...
