Re: Big Pike on the Connecticut
Nice pike . I fish for them from October through March. So far this season I've banked 60 fish, but none in double digits.........yet .

Re: Strike Pro Ultralight Lures
I like the look of those. I use their Buster glide baits for pike. Quality is top notch.

Re: New Ultralight Addict
The Pixy definately appears to be the choice for UL. I have a Core 51Mg7, admittedly not used for UL and can't fault it. I'm throwing baits in the 25g - 60g range for pike, and it does it with aplomb.

Re: Caught my arm today
Ouch, that had to hurt. Last time it happened to me the hook point just penetrated the bone. Doc's forceps couldn't touch it so it was out to the car for the Leatherman. Still stuck, so out came the scalpel  . A quick slice, a twist the Leatherman and I had my lure back :D . Back on the water 1...

Sweet looking setup . I wish we had a similar choice in England.

Re: wanna refine your casting skills?
i fish from shore so this reel interests me greatly. obviously i would look really stupid getting into that windup during a fishing trip, if i eliminate the windup and only cast 75 meters that would be ok with me  I could live with that. Using my Loomis MBR 783C / Shimano Core or Okuma Komodo,...

Re: This weeks new toys....And now they're christened.
Is Daiwa Shinobi braid the same as the Daiwa Samurai braid available here? As far as I know, they are two different braids. Must admit, although the Shinobi is a bit noisy through the guides, I do like it. Another plus is that in 50lb, 100yds exactly fills the Komodo, so I get 3 fills from one spoo...

Re: This weeks new toys...And now they're christened.
Just back from the lake. Christened the reel and a few of the lures :big grin: . I have to say I am impressed with the reel, for the last year I've been using a Shimano Core 51 Mg7, on a Loomis MBR 783C, and this is the bench mark. I paied the Komodo with the Loomis for a good comparison of the reel...

This weeks new toys....And now they're christened.
Had a couple of deliveries yesterday. I wanted a mid bracket baitcaster other than my usual ShimAbuDaiwa, so after reading a shed load of good reviews, I went for the Okuma Komodo KDR-273-VLX. In Europe it is a 10 bearing reel rather than the 11 bearings in the US. I ordered from an English retailer...

Re: Issues with Braid on UL Reel
Hi dragger. A long shot, but is the anti twist roller on the bail working? I've been using braid on all my reels for the last 1 years , only had that prob twice, once on an Alcedo and once on a Browning. On both the roller was at fault. Good call. The bearing in that roller is exposed more than any...

Re: NEWBIE/Beginner's Guide
Just to add my 2 pence worth (I'm English), I'd say buy the best that you can realistically afford, remember the addage, "Buy cheap and you'll buy twice". Don't be fooled into thinking UL is only for small fish, the 4 biggest fish that I have ever caught, carp and pike between 23lb and 36lb, were al...
