Re: Suggestions for affordable 2pc bass rod for plastics?

Next rod is either light or med-light. I am going to work on my slider technique this coming year. BPS has a combo that is 6' 2pc light with a quantum catalyst pti10. I can used 4 and 6 lb test. I will be throwing the brewer slider heads which are lighter than typically rated. Thanks for the replies.

Re: Wacky worming rigs

Budget was a bit over. I got a catalyst pti 20 I have since purchased a 6' spinnerbait special that he had on sale over the holidays. Most of his rods are on the heavier side and faster action which is why I will probably look elsewhere for the Slider/finesse rod. I do not want to spend as much on t...

Re: Wacky worming rigs

Did I ever! Trey Kistler made me a 2 pc 6'6 wacky rig. It is great. My next rod/reel combo is for slider fishing. I am not going with the brewer suggestion of ultra short but will stay pretty light. I want a light reel that has a wide spool. I am not sure what I will go with yet. I am looking at som...

Re: Scorpion 1001 vs Curado101sf vs curado 201bsf?

Wow, it has been a long time since this post. I have had a couple of daiwa tdx 103 hsdl's and sold em and now own a scorpion 1001 and a recent castaic sf LH which I can't wait to spool up. My casting and pitching skills are much improved and I am looking forward to the new scorpion though for the mo...

Re: New Spinnerbaits...

Tantrum lures are great. The finish is sometime not the most durable but the fish do not care. One of the good things is they are environmentally friendly. I have caught bass on the simplest colors white, chartreuse but I am sure that bluegill color will work as well. I found these because i wanted ...

Re: shimano scorpion reels are they any good?

Shimano scorpion. One sweet reel. Small, light, smooth. I can cast very light tackle with it. Very fast rule but great brakes. I also own daiwa tdx 103 hsdl's but selling them because they are not good as left handed reels. I did just buy a shimano castaic 200sf LH (usa) which i can't wait to use. I...

Re: Pistol Grip recommendations?

I did get myself a pistol grip rod. It was semi custom made by Kistler rods. It does not have the traditional pistol grip but more of a shortened version of a standard grip. This is because i have small fingers. The rod has become my favorite worming and spinnerbait rod. The length is 5'6" and very ...

Re: Daiwa tdx 103 hsdl LH and wiffle spool?

Thanks Reno. I have a scorpion 1001 and wanted to get a second lefthand baitcaster. I think i may pass on the tdx103's and keep searching or get another scorpion.

Re: Daiwa tdx 103 hsdl LH and wiffle spool?

So the lefthanded version has the wiffle spool as well? Is it tdx103 hsdf LH? Just trying to figure out the code because i cannot tell from pictures if the lefthanded version is made with the wiffle spool.

Re: Differences of the daiwa td-x hvl vs hsd reels?

I did get the tdx 103 hsdl LH reel. The LH model has the spool release lever in a difft position than the RH version. I think it is great for pitching as it works as a flipping switch. Also it is out of the way allowing me to rest my thumb without inadvertantly opening the spool on a hookset.

Re: Differences of the daiwa td-x hvl vs hsd reels?

Derringer, I just took a look at the left handed daiwa...yup, no thumb bar. But looking more closely that may not be such a bad thing. When hooksetting or retrieving i sometimes accidentally release the spool when i rest my thumb on the thumb bar of my scorpion. having the release mechanism where it...

Pistol Grip recommendations?

I am searching for a new rod and want a pistol grip rod but don't know what is out there. Anyone have any favorites? If you could be specific that would be great. I am planning on using the rod mostly seated from the back of a rowboat to sidearm/roll cast and skip into tight cover from about 30-40' ...
