First Northern Chunker of the season

Took this big girl, who was feeding heavily in post spawn (68 degree water) conditions, using a standard jig and paca chunk combo. Fishing was extremely good during our trip. 15"-18" bass were on the feedbag, but finding those elusive 20"+ bass were much more challenging. They likely were still out ...

left handed "D's" in the 5.1 gear ratio are worth a premium.

Re: Deep Cranking Reel

as long as you're not looking or a leftie.

I mean, sure they made an E5 in the 301 size...but in the infinitely more popular 201 size, no E5 to be found (or made).

kinda what I was getting at with my earlier comments.

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

dig ya catch those "open water" trolling with big stick baits?

I love big water trolling for stripers. It's like trolling for walleye on Erie, but these walleye get big, and you know, pull back, lol.

Re: Deep Cranking Reel

wait for a certain shimano rep to advise their 7.1+ reels are perfect for deep cranking applications. and it is wrong for consumers to ask for a 5.x:1 left handed shimano reel...because the 17.1:1 reel they just released will do the job so much better....cause of moar microgears and other crap that ...

Re: 2018 Stella

lighter does not equal better. ok, in some VERY specific situations, then maybe it does. but in 90% of fishing situations, lighter reel doesn't mean better. In fact, with reels specifically, I want a well built all metal reel before a lighter reel...they simply last longer, and are more durable, as ...

Re: Reeling Demographics... are you a righty or lefty

not worth it for Shimano (tooling costs apparently) to make left handed reels in all their models?

I guess this site is not indicative of Shimano's target market.....

Re: How many Shimano Antares do you own?

I own 21 shimano tekota's....but I troll more than I cast....(more to life than bass).

I can't imagine owning 20 bass fishing reels of the same type.

Re: 852c By any other name?

I'm the opposite.

I much prefer spinning tackle....although I own more BC gear.

I think my 802 spinning NRX gets more overall use then the 852c.

my 804xmr spinning NRX rod is my most used rod in my collection.
