Re: NRX Inshore

I and a few others on this board run the 804 XMR.

It is my favourite rod.

Anything specific you are inquiring about?

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

as long as you have one of the new models, (ie, green blank or two coloured top cork) you should be fine. We bought a number of first gen rods (the one that failed last month was still a first gen rod), as well as 2nd gen rods that replaced many of our first gen rods. So of the 9 failures, they were...

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

absolutely!

He calls my NRX's "funny blue rods" that don't work. he refers to the 9 reel seat failures he's been on the boat for (and one as recent as this last trip).

tells me I need to upgrade to his St Criox Avid :)

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

that is my father, my hero, and the best fisherman I know.

he basically uses senkos and craw imitations on his spinning tackle.

constantly reminds the rest of us how easy fishing "can be" if you want it to be :)

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

Just got back from some Northern Fall Bassin. Trees starting to change colours. When we started we were fishing 73 degree water. Was 67 when we left a couple days later. The girls are just starting to build their bellies. :) https://images2.imgbox.com/dd/fc/1WjomU95_o.jpg https://images2.imgbox.com/...

Re: It’s 2018, why are you buying reels from the past

I gave my Curado BSF to a buddy who had one of those horrible G series Curados. He can't believe the BSF is 8 years (or so) older than the G. The G stinks to high heaven and the BSF is still going strong. Caveat: My BSF went to Ian for a super tuning, so I'm sure that goes into the reason. But the B...

Re: It’s 2018, why are you buying reels from the past

while technology may have improved, the cost cutting measures companies are employing, then selling "snake oil" to cover up the lack of quality. higher gear ratio's, stupid colours, super light weight, and overall poor quality, is how reels have gone today. Shimano's best Curado (for those who ACTUA...

was going to say, at least five of my NRX's look like that.

don't seem to affect the rod in any way.

Re: First Northern Chunker of the season

That one wasn't over 6, no. Close, but not quite. But for so early in the season, and in the cold northern waters (even for Ontario, it's quite far north), I was surprised to find a fish that fat. I had to almost take a second look to ensure it wasn't an unspawned female. (it wasn't). Be back up in ...

Re: First Northern Chunker of the season

Yes, spring was over with a "blink" this year. One killer combo for flat lining lakers is a 3 way trolling setup. Take your deep diving td30 tail dancer (or even a td20) and take 4' of line and attach to 3 way swivel. Take a light flutter spoon (michigan stingers work nicely) and put it on another 4...

Re: First Northern Chunker of the season

Laker was 27lbs.

Caught long lining a rapala taildancer in 35' of water.

was fun, especially considering I was solo. :)

Re: Bass Opening Week (Pic's/Video)

sorry, I must have mis-remembered. I love reading your bass opener reports and I thought I recalled some of your earlier years mentioned (and showing) algae ... many of the Eastern Ontario lakes have blue green algae growths ... of course I don't know the specific chain of lakes your fishing. Eviden...

Re: Bass Opening Week (Pic's/Video)

looks like the water is starting to improve in that area after the longer, cooler winter/springs we've had lately.

that area had some serious algae issues for a number of years....

nice photo's man. lots of fun largies!

Re: First Northern Chunker of the season

Yep, while I love fishing for largies, my boat fishes a ton of great lakes salmon and trout as well. The bass came from northern Ontario waters. Being from Ontario I can't seem to "pick a species". Brown Trout trolling in shallow water is as much fun as flippin for largies in the cane. Here's a lake...
