Re: Spining Rod Opinions

i have the LE 6'10" mlxf, fantastic rods, i actually have 2 of them i like them so much. throw mainly 1/8 jig with a grub, or similar, but was throwing a 1/4 this morning for some walleyes, and it handles that with ease too. i throw a 1/8th ned rig on it all the time, and some tubes as well, its a p...

Re: Daiwa Certate 1003

I don’t have the 1000, but have several of the 2000/2004. They are great reels, a little heavy but built like a tank, super smooth, great workhorse reels.

Re: Stella FJ or Exist 18

I went with the exist, I am sure that the Stella is a damn fine reel, but I have spinning reels from both companies and I like the Daiwas better than the Shimanos. I was likely going to get a 2500 exist, but I just can’t justify the price they are asking for them (msrp was like 10000 yen less than t...

Re: Megabass Orochi XX... What’s next for the USDM??

I am sad to see the “dropshot” going away, I have this rod in the original xx, as well as the x4 and phase 3 line ups. It is by far the most versatile rod I own, I use mine for cranks (up to a 1.5 square bill, or so) as well as dropshot, Ned rigs and other jig/plastic combos, small swimbaits... damn...

Re: $300 spinning rod for bottom contact techniques

How is the 6'10 Medium XF rated for lower weight than the 6'10 Medium Light XF? MLXF is rated 1/8 - 1/2 and MXF rated 1/8 - 5/16. That doesn't make sense? This is from both the St. Croix website and TW website. The 7 foot medium fast is rated more in line with what I'm looking for - 3/16 - 5/8. Can...

Re: $300 spinning rod for bottom contact techniques

i would look at the 6'8" mxf st croix legend elite, or perhaps the 6'10" mxf elite, they are more than your 300 budget, but are under 400, for sure! i have 2 of the 6'10" mlxf, and absolutely love these rods, i was not a fan of st croix, had owned from avid to legend extreme in the past, but the new...

Re: Steez 17 spinning reel

Haven’t seen anything posted on it, but Daiwa is coming out with 4.8:1 gear ratio versions of both type 1 and type 2 steez for 2018, digitaka has them listed, and there is some info on the jdm Daiwa site as well. This will for sure be my next reel, as I can’t justify 600 for the new exist! Does anyo...

Re: Daiwa Exist 18

https://daiwafishing.com.au/products/18exist/

austailian site has the exist page up, magnesium frame is cool, comparison between spool sizes of the "old daiwa" and the lt concept, too.

still loving the looks of this reel, just not sure i want to pony up $600!

Re: Daiwa Exist 18

https://www.digitaka.com/list.php?category=131&series=Pre-Order&item=EXIST+%28New%29 Pre-orders for the exits are up on digitaka, the difference between the Daiwa quoted price and the pre-order price isn’t nearly the same as the previous exist, despite the msrp being about 10k yen less, the digitak...

Re: Daiwa Exist 18

New info up on the daiwa site listed above, damn good looking reel for sure, and it seems to be cheaper than the last version (around 10k yen, based on the catalog price listed on digitaka for the 15 vs the msrp on the daiwa site for the 18) which might be the best news I have seen so far! If this r...

Re: What’s your Finesse spinning rod?

for bottom contact i use the st croix legend elite 6'10" ml/xf, and for ;ighter stuff i use a 2016 megabass destroyer lycaon and/or a major craft ms-x limited 6'5" light/fast.

for small tubes, and heavier trd's i use the st croix

Re: Addermine vs legend elite

Yes that does help, I have owned a 6’8” mxf St. Croix legend elite in the past and the mlxf is different, sounding more similar to he addermine going off your description. Maybe if I can handle it first I’ll grab one, but it seems like it would be too redundant with the rods I have. Thanks!

Re: Addermine vs legend elite

Another good comparison would be to the orochi xx drop shot rod, x4 Aaron Martens or destroyer phase 3 Aaron Marten, I have all of those as well, would love something a little lighter in power than those but with a xf tip.

Addermine vs legend elite

So I have 2 of the 6’10” ml/xf 2016 legend elites, and absolutely love them. I have been thinking about the addermine lately and wondering how similar it is to the st croixs, on paper the seem pretty similar, both being within an inch of each other, both xf and similar line and lure ratings. I don’t...
