Re: Glx or Legend Elite

i didnt have any problems with the XF tip on swimbaits, but i think if i went with a medium over a medium-light, that might be different. i havent used the current gen of the 6'8" mxf, but i had a previous model, and it was faster than the ML by a bit. the 6'10" mlxf i would call more of a medium-me...

Re: Glx or Legend Elite

i havent used (or handled) the loomis so i cant comment there, but i have 2 of the LE's and they are awesome, i have never had any problems feeling a bite on them, very sensitive rods. i usually have a 1/8 ned rig on them, but also spent a lot of time throwing a small swimbait (baby rage swimmer, al...

Re: All around spinning rod (NRX v. ST. C LE v MB Add)

the st croix LE 6'10 mlxf is what i would get (in fact i have 2 of them), i dont have any experience with the NRX or addermine. the 6'10 mlxf is definitely between the mlf and mf st croixs, and makes for a great all around spinning rod. other than crank baits and very light "ned rigs" i use that rod...

Re: 18' Steez Type-2 or 16' Vanquish C2500xxx

Are there any differences between the 17 and 18 models with the Steez lineup? I lost my handle on my old Steez spinning reel and considering the cost it might be worth it to just get a new reel. as far as i know the 17 models were the high speed gear ratios, 6.x:1 while the 18 models were the norma...

Re: ICAST 2018 Quick Hits : New HIGH END UL rods from St. Croix

Nothing to do with the panfish rods, but, with the 6’3” mlxf I landed a 40”, 45+ lb flathead catfish yesterday, with a 2018 Daiwa steez type 2, 6 lb j-braid x8 and a 8lb floro leader, it took about 20 mins, every time I got it near the boat it took off again. Rod handled it in stride, not a super po...

Re: ICAST 2018 Quick Hits : New HIGH END UL rods from St. Croix

I used the 6’3” mlxf legend elite this morning for some smallie fishing with a 1/16 jig and either a 2” Senko or a baby rage craw (a lot of the time bitten down). Felt great, sensitivity with this rod in my hands is awesome, it cast the 2” Senko well.

Can’t wait for the 6’4” panfish version!

Re: ICAST 2018 Quick Hits : New HIGH END UL rods from St. Croix

loving these, not crazy about the reel seat but not a deal breaker, those guides are killer. i have 3 of the regular legend elites (2 6'10" mlxf and a 6'3" mlxf) and love these rods. ill likely add either the 6'4" LXF or the 6'9" LXF. I've looked at St. Croix for an extra Light powered rod. They se...

Re: Backing for braid on spinning reels?

for me it depends on the spool depth, on a deep spool, i use cheap mono (the cajun red stuff works good, stands out against the braid). for shallow spools i use electrical tape, just tie my knot directly to the spool, then a wrap of tape, then continue spooling the line. works great and have had no ...

Re: Roboworm Ned Worms

i got to use these for the first time this past weekend, and they catch fish for sure, great colors, cast very well. did pretty well on the smallies, no giants but a few nice ones (with a couple walleyes thrown in) they dont have much durability, didnt have a fish throw one, so i could bite them dow...

Re: Megabass Orochi XX... What’s next for the USDM??

anyone use the enforcer for small swimbaits? in the spring i am pretty much fishing walleyes a good 90% of the time, and this year i started throwing some small swimbaits for them (2.75" rage swimmer, 2.8" fat impact, 3" bps speed shad, etc) with good success. i have been throwing them on my 6'10" m...

Re: Roboworm Ned Worms

i bought a bunch of the roboworm ned worms as well, havent used them yet as i am still heavy into walleye fishing. if they float, which i have seen a video of them doing (dont remember where) then awesome, but if they dont, do NOT doscount them. i catch a ton of fish, smallies, largies, walleyes, pa...

Re: 2010 Certate- Was it available in the US?

the 2010 certate was available in the US as the Certate HA. they were pretty much the same as the JDM models but no shallow spools or lower gear ratios.

Re: JDM Shimano Exsence CI4+

i cant speak to the exsence, in either variety, but i do have a 2017 complex ci4+ c2500s f4. i dont know what it is, but i am not a big fan of the reel, its smooth but seems very tight (probably will loosen up with use). i was looking at the normal exsence, but decided to go with the 2018 daiwa stee...

Re: Spining Rod Opinions

I went with the LE because I had a LT I didn’t really like and upgraded to the LE. I have fished the 6’8” mxf and 6’3” mxf in avids, lt and le, I prefer the mlxf to the mxf as the mxf is fairly stout, and I tend to finesse fish, and the ml is more versatile imo.i have fished the mlf (6’ and 7’) and ...
