Re: getting started in rodbuilding for personal use?
Mudhole has most anything you'll need. I use a thread bobbin for a thread tensioner. Works good for me. As for tools, a burnishing tool, a thread pick, a good pair of cutters, a small tape measure for measuring guides, a china pen for marking, masking tape, a razor blade, a round file and a reaming ...

Koppers Live target Trout Baits
Anyone have any info or a release date for the Koppers Live Target Trout Hard Baits? I'd really like to get some of the rainbow Parr for stream/mountain fishing on my UL setup.

Re: New spinning reel...need suggestions
I have a Patriarch 9525, got it on sale from TW during their big sale a month or two ago. Absolutely love the reel. Super light, smooth retrieve, and doesnt feel cheap or plasticy.

Re: curado 301 for salmon?
The Kings I fish in the Columbia are between 5-30lb usually. I used a 201E with 50lb Power Pro and it worked fine for those fish jigging shrimp under a bobber. I stepped up to a Abu Record 61HC for the extra line capacity and piece of mind. I also use a Abu Revo SX with 12lb P-Line on it for casting...

Re: Ballistic or Patriarch Spinning Reel
I have the Patriarch 9525 reel and love it. It just feels like the real deal. Super super light, very smooth retrieve with no wobble. I like the EVA knob. The bail has a firm click to it. It doesnt feel cheap in any way. My only issue is after changing spools, the drag cap/tensioner is kind of a b*t...

Re: WTF:- Shimano Sedona 500 or Symetre 500
Have you considered the Shimano CI4 1000 size reels? I know theres one available in the UK. Super light, but is a bit bigger then those baby reels. Might be more comfortable. For me I wont go below a 1000, the reel is just too small imo.
You cant go wrong with a Symetre though.

Re: WTF:- Shimano Sedona 500 or Symetre 500
I have a Symetre 3000 and think it is an outstanding reel.
That said, for an Ultralight application I went with the super light Pflueger Patriarch 9525.

Re: Revo SX problems
your friend is not alone. i owned two of them and out of the 50 or so new reels i've bought over the past 4-5 years from all the major manufacturers, i've never had the problems like i encountered with the SXs. too bad some of the archives to this forum were wiped out as there was lots of discussio...

Re: Revo SX problems
Loosen your cast control knob and dont whip the rod so hard. I haver the same issue with my curados and my revo sx. Loosen the cast control knob and set the mag brakes at about 3/4 and back off accordingly. I've been casting buzz bombs in the dark for salmon with my Revo SX with only 3 clicks of th...

Re: Shimano CI4 2500F question.
Best spinning reel on the market imo. Lightweight, high max drag, looks amazing, designed for use with braid/fluoro. The eva knob works great. Hmmm.... :-k "Best?" Maybe not best if money is no object, but certainly best bang for buck. If you're finesse fishing there really isn't any other reel to ...

I dont mind the EVA grip on my Pflueger Patriarch. I dont have a CI4 so I cant comment on its knob.

Re: Reels with bait clickers?
Revo Toro or Abu Record. I have the 61HC Record and it has a clicker. Kind of on the heavy side, but it holds 240yds of 10lb and casts like a dream. The 6500 Abu C3 has a clicker. The 6600 Abu C4 has one. The Abu record is a good reel but feels a little sloppy with bigger lures (4oz.+). In the musky...

Aint that the truth. I'll fish em in structure, but it hurts the pocket book.BucketHunter wrote:The bills break if you aren't gentle to them. I wouldn't be suprised to see some gen 2 design come out.
I love these cranks, but open water and that's it.
