Re: Metanium mgl vs chronarch mgl thread

I own both Metanium MGL HG and Chronarch MGL in the 6.2:1 ratio. I have limited time on the Chronarch but so far I really like it. The Metanium is an excellent reel and I have found that I prefer it for bottom contact fishing. It has found a home on my finesse jig stick. It has a shorter handle than...

Re: GLX crankbait rods

The 7'6" rod would personally fit me better for deep cranking. Baits up to a 6XD for example. I know there are also a lot of guys out there that like to throw lipless baits or middle diving crankbaits on 7'6" rods as well. For me, the 7'11" is just too much rod for me. The 7'1' is just a big short. ...

GLX crankbait rods

There seems to be a gap in the glx crankbait rod line. There are no sticks in the 7'6" range and I would love to see some options there. My favorite rod in this series is the 855. It does a lot of things very well. I would like to see a 7'6" rod that is similar to the 855. Maybe in 5 and 6 powers. I...

Re: Mark Rose KLX Offshore Rod 7'6"

A custom stick is a very nice option. I have done this in the past for a few other rods. They were very well built and I have enjoyed them. I had sticks built on the MBR GLX and Crankbait blanks....which are no longer offered. Mattman and George Roth are both excellent builders. Kistler is another o...

Re: Mark Rose KLX Offshore Rod 7'6"

Most cranking rods these days are either 7'0" or 7'11". There are not a whole lot of rods in that 7'6" range. I have been through a ton of deep crankbait rods over the years and have never really found "the one". I am still a fan of Loomis crankbait rods. The original CBR rods had some of the best a...

Mark Rose KLX Offshore Rod 7'6"

Looking for opinions on this rod as a deep cranking stick. 6XD,DD22,Fat Free Shad's.DT16, etc. will be its intended use. It will be paired with a Chronarch D5. I want to stay in the 7 1/2 foot range as the 7'11" are just too long for my liking. What type of action does this rod have? I am wanting a ...

Re: Will The Reel Deep Crankers Please Stand UP

Deep cranking has long been my favorite way to fish. I have went through a lot of reels (and rods) over the years looking for the ultimate set up. Speed of the reel seems to be of personal preference and I have always preferred a 20 inches per turn reel. I know others prefer a faster reel and there ...

Re: New GLX vs NRX

The price point has become very close. I would have liked to have seen a few variations of some of the models. Maybe add a GLX 823 instead of another 803. It would give them some differences between the 2 in terms of blanks and potential buyers. For example: If u want a 803 u have to go NRX, if u wa...

Re: does a day get much finer than this?

Nice set up! The rattle viper is a unique little stick and a blast to fish. I used mine last week to pitch small 1/4 oz spinnerbaits tight to cover on the river. Also used it with small square bills and the rod excelled at both. I'm now on my 4th megabass X4 rod and have been very pleased with all o...

Re: My first MB

Nice rod to start with! The steez looks at home on that rod. I went through this recently as well. I purchased my first megabass rod after talking with gary. I had a specific need and after his help, I went with the cover hacking. Awesome rod and exactly what I was looking for. I have added 2 more m...

Re: Core 100MG vs. Core 100MG7

The Core 100MG7 is an excellent reel and worth the extra cost to me. There is just something a little different about the MG7 versus the MG. I know some of that may be the brass gearing and the power handle which I would prefer. Both cast very well out of the box and handle a wide range of baits ver...
