Re: New 2021 Daiwa 月下美人 “Alphas” Air TW PE Special
Purchased my GekkaBijin this week and paired it with a Daiwa Steez Compile X ‘Moving Bait Versatile’ for use with flukes, weightless/lightly weighted plastics, smaller paddletails with 1/8 oz. jig heads, and jerkbaits. Spooled 70 meters of 14# YGK G-Soul Sinking Braid (diameter: 0.185mm) with a coup...

Re: Line conditioner?
I have used KVD Line and Lure Conditioner for at least twelve years with mono, fluoro and braid. The conditioner has "tamed" all lines and extended the life of each type of line extensively with no adverse effect. An example is my main cranking reel (OG Conquest 101DC) , which was spooled with braid...

Re: Smoothest gear grease.
After some research, I now use Dupont Krytox GPL 225 for gears rather than ZPI Medium, which is a significant upgrade over an excellent grease What do you like about the Kyrtox grease? Is it smoother, does it stay on the gear longer? Both reasons. The reels are so smooth, that if your eyes were clo...

Re: Smoothest gear grease.
Last year I had settled on ZPI F-0 Pro Grease Medium for all gears and ZPI F-0 Pro Grease Soft for sliding/moving metal parts/frame bearings/worm gear. After some research, I now use Dupont Krytox GPL 225 for gears rather than ZPI Medium, which is a significant upgrade over an excellent grease. The ...

Re: Which State would you choose?
Yeah, I don't think California is an option. My wife wants me to consider moving to a State with a warmer, year round climate - Health issues (you know). We have some property in Southern Oregon, about 45 minutes North of the California border. Not exactly the climate she's looking for though. What...

Re: LETS SEE YOUR CUSTOM PAINTED REELS
Ryan Sagisi (Sagisi Customs) is a "master" of Cerakote work. Have spent some time with him, watching him work as well as looking at many of his "works of art". You would be extremely happy with any work he would do.

Re: Which State would you choose?
Lived in Michigan (West Michigan) growing up with some great fishing as a kid and teenager. A wide range of fish, including Coho and Chinook salmon, planted in the 1966. Lake Michigan was 20-30 bicycle ride away along with many ponds, small lakes, rivers, etc. But after living in California (Bay are...

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!
Just started using walking topwater lures and this is the first fish with that technique on the second cast ever. The fish "hit" the lure, but did not hookup. I paused the retrieve, then twitched the lure twice and it was on! Also just started using a spinnerbait a few weeks ago. First couple of cas...

Re: Ygk G-soul Upgrade vs Ss112
I use 30# YGK G-Soul Upgrade X-8 Braid with a 15# Sunline Defier Amilo mono leader for topwaters.
My finesse baitcasters and spinning reels are spooled with 16 or 20# YGK SS112 Sinking Braid, which are using weightless/lightly weighted subsurface lures.

Doc

Re: One Texas rig/small rig jod
PS...I also use a rangefinder. What line were you running to get those distances? That Steez SV TW with the Javelin is spooled with 30# YGK G-Soul Upgrade X-8 Braid with a 12# Seaguar Premier Fluoro leader. I only use braid with a leader (12#, 15# or 20# Seaguar Premier; OBW, 12# Seaguar Premier ha...

Re: One Texas rig/small rig jod
Since MB X7 Extreme Mission rods are near impossible to find, I would recommend a MB F5-75X Javelin. With a Steez SV TW, I can consistently cast 3/8 oz. 195-200 feet with a moderate, one-hand cast at the "low end" of the rod's range. Distances were measured with a laser range finder at my "casting ...
