Great news! When one thinks of the tens of thousands of hours of time collectively given by members toward helping others with their knowledge and experience by posting here, the recovery of that resource will be something to celebrate. Perhaps by sales at all the sponsors. :big grin:

Re: Spool Shaft (middle) Bearing Function?

ogrich31, with regard to the Curado B series, I, too, have read that the bearing behind the retainer pin only comes into contact with the frame when the spool is under heavy load (fighting a big fish, freeing a lure from a snag) and does not affect casting performance. I don't think I have read that...

Is that true just for the 2011 models, or for 2008 Premiers, too?

Re: Verdict on the water ...

The bizarrely placed hook keeper helped me lose interest in the same rod in the Veritas line. My thumb would have been right on top of it with three fingers ahead of the reel stem. The 6'9" spin Veritas is rated ML, but was definitely a M in comparison to the considerable number of M and ML spinning...

Re: What features decide a baitcast reel can throw light lur

I have no knowledge regarding relative quality of the stock bearings, so I'll focus on other possible explanations. First, as you point out, if the Aurora has an 11 g. spool and there is no line on it, it has low inertia. When measuring free spool time, the angler typically sets the spool in motion ...

Re: Gulp panfish bait fails fair tests

Questor, did you thread the hook with nightcrawler, covering most of it, while leaving more of the shank exposed with the Gulp maggot?

Re: Circle hooks for panfish?

Interesting that you mention the Kahle. When I was a kid catching bluegills by the hundreds from a dock, I stumbled onto the Kahle and found that it significantly reduced gut hooking. It seemed that the bend and the barb would almost always pivot into the fish's mouth when it sucked in the bait (alw...

Re: Latest Sport Fishing lines/knots tests

The first quote speaks of using a LINE that has already been doubled with a knot to hold it that way; the second refers only to a doubled END. Maybe the knot is stronger if the tag is load-bearing.
