Re: Fishing in Washington DC

I will be attending a conference in your fine capital in early October. I hope to find a few hours to fish the Potomac / Tidal basin. Most likely from shore. Being from North Europe, my knowledge on lures/patterns for early fall fishing in DC is quite low. I read that bass are quite aggresive durin...

Re: Seditions and some others.

Sedition Conflict. Think MB Launcher with an attitude...No idea if the substance of these rods keep up with the style. But it does make me want buy one and strap it up with the red Daiwa Battler fitted with the purple HLC Spool and maybe some other purple touches.

Re: JDM Rod for Finesse Jigs

Checking all those boxes was nearly impossible. But my friend, I found it..(kind of..) JDM-Check (actually made in Japan) 7'1 to 7'3- Check (7'1) Full Grip-Check (full cork) Once Piece-Check (not even grip joint) Lure Rating 1/8 to 3/4 oz As a bonus: titanium guides Upon release in 2013 this was one...

Re: RARE SPOOLs

I dont think that anyone has mentioned the Carrozzeria Honeycomb Spool for Monoblock. Retailing at over 30k yen, it's the most expensive spool in it's class that I have found. I've yet to figure out why it's priced 12k yen over the other MB Honeycomb spools. It does wiegh in at 8 grams, which is lig...

LOL- same here! I ordered two spools of Castaway for this fall. Expectations are high for some epic stories like this. 😃
 Hope I didn't oversell this stuff. With that said, I ordered a spool for my Steez A (which is going full SW) and my Daiwa Certate 4000. All in!

Re: Help with my Sol

Since I last posted here I've acquired a zonda honeycomb spool, thanks Winstondry, and IMO it is made for use with ML-M rods, 1/8-5/8oz or more, 8-14# or 20-40# braid. It is awesome for spinnerbaits, keitechs, and other typical bass baits that aren't particularly aerodynamic. I haven't tried skippi...

Re: Ned Rig CASTING only

Neds are compact, aerodynamic, and easy to cast. I'll echo PN's sentiment on the casting of Ned's. A 1/5th oz Shroom head with a 2.75 inch TRD weighs around 9 grams and is a wind cheating bullet. No need for true BFS gear, unless you are using the absolute lightest head, even with the 1/10th your a...

Re: **Hand me a Lando Calrissian moment this afternoon**

No takers........till next time TT 8-) I read your blog/thread religiously, primarily in hopes of one day seeing a damn fish. Slap on a Ned Rig, catch the fish, then hang whatever flavor 10oz lure of the day your slugging out of the fishes mouth and snap snap. Alternativly, keep posting Studio Comp...

Re: Daiwa warranty/repair question

That being said, I went over the whole rod carefully and noticed a few things that were different to my old rod I sent in. The epoxy and paint on the guide wraps was much sloppier on this rod. Same thing happened to me with a Megabass rod I broke (mostly my fault). Got new rod returned with specks ...

Re: Megabass Rod Question

Does anyone own the poker and what do you like about it? How is it in terms of sensitivity? Of the Poker and SRD, which is the better buy even though the SRD isn't currently available? Can't comment on the SRD, but I did own the Poker for about a year. I really liked the Poker, as much or more for ...

Re: Ultimate speckled trout set-up

Had a great couple of fishing days this weekend in SW Florida. Got the opportunity to put the new Tulala Harmonix Staccato 78MHSS-HX to the test on some moderate size reds, small snook and even had a run with a 40-60 lb Tarpon. An amazing rod that I will post on later when it’s designated reel arriv...

Re: New Antares

What's not to like?? Not every rod works well with a 5 or 6 oz reel, not every application is suited for a sub 10 oz combo. Although the Antares AR is capable of casting down to 5 grams (maybe lower), I don't think that's it calling. It's built like a tank and is equally adept at casting 3/4 to 2 o...

Re: Ultimate speckled trout set-up

Aquaftm45- those are some nice specks! How do you like the Sunline braid? There are a couple 24" in that livewell!.. That was last year fishing in Pine Island Sound. I'm a big Varivas fan, but I must say that specific Sunline product is pretty amazing. It's a braid/mono hybrid which increases it's ...
