Re: Show off your bigbait setups!!!

I feel very out of the loop, I have not heard of most of these rods. This was my bigbait gateway drug, a MB Hyurga 72H with a sv103 on it. https://i.imgur.com/cJ60M4ql.jpg I found the 50 Rat was too much for it but otherwise the Hyuga is a beast for anything non-bottom contact and under 2oz. I would...

I have been using these without problems: OWNER 5121 HYPER WELDED QUICK SNAP
The issue I would have with those is the hooked bit of metal that sticks out. The reason I am into the Eggs is that they don't snag more then tying directly for mosts lures.

Re: Decoy egg snaps questions???

I never used a snap for a frog. I'm too paranoid it might bend or break off. Frogging with a snap (and with a 6'4" rod!) is a lonely road to walk but so far I am really liking it. The #3 snaps are rated to 70lbs and in my yard testing they hold up to a straight pull as well as 40lb braid and out pr...

Re: Do you guys always use reel covers and rod sleeves?

I keep rod and reel covers on 100% of the time a rod is not in my hands or in a holder on boat or yak. The reel covers are to keep sand and grit out, I drive an Outback and the combos are in the trunk with my tackle and fishing stuff. There is often more sand and grit back there then I would like so...

Re: Decoy egg snaps questions???

I use them a lot, the smaller 1 and 1.5 for spoons and UL hardbaits and the 3 and 4 sizes for frogs and smaller glidebaits. The trick I have found with the smaller ones is that you have to pick and choose which lures you use them on, some lures will have a line tie that isn't suitable for them for t...

https://i.imgur.com/0c5cLMuh.jpg?1 Super Red Demon 19 Ryoga This all started with a simple post here musing about wanting a SB rod with a shorter handle, 4 hours later I get a PM offering to sell me the SRD at a price too good to pass up. Once I had it in hand, the Ryoga seemed like the only reason...

Re: Tatula Elite vs Steez A

I just can't trust daiwa on this one , until I see one with grease on the gears from the factory. Hah, well we shall see! I also have a Steez SV TW still rocking it's factory grease or lack thereof, but it's due for a cleaning this spring and will get some love then. It still feels as smooth as it ...

That looks about right, thanks!
I would buy a pack of the 3/0 hooked ones as well, it's a really small hook-gap if you use anything thicker then like a Swamp Crawler/Roboworm.

Re: Tatula Elite vs Steez A

I am super impressed with my Daiwa Coastal SV TW as well so far! Smootheness is def on the same level as my Steez A and Steez SV TW. Of course the later are already a couple of years old. So one would need to see how the new Tatula's behave over time. Looking forward to get my other Tatulas now and...

Re: Do You Have A Favorite Cheap Rod?

I have two. The first is an iRod Fred's Magic Stick. It's an 7'5" XH/ModF rod that they sell as a frog rod but it's so much more. It's got a perfect power/taper balance for driving in heavy hooks but with the flex to keep a fish pinned and is sensitive enough for fishing swimjigs in cover. It feels ...

These come in a 1/16oz-2/0, but it's a pretty small hook. That worm is 3.5".

Re: Tatula Elite vs Steez A

I am so impressed with the new Tat SV that my heavy investment in 34mm spools is the only thing that would get me to buy another higher-end Daiwa reel for general use. The Steezes I have (A and SVTW) are very nice reels but the point of diminishing returns kicks in very very quickly for me.

Re: Daiwa BLX

I picked up one of the JDM ones this winter, the LG 631MHFB-FR, to use as a short range frog/top water rod for some of the longer hike-in fishing I do. Sadly just as the weather was turning around my state baned fishing, so I have very little time and even less fish on it so far. From the time I hav...

Re: Getting into BFS - Zodias/Expride + 16 Alde BFS XG?

Does no one love the Pixy anymore? They take a bit of thumb to cast well with 1/8oz lures but you can find ones in great condition for ~$150 or leas. I like the Pixy. The OP said they were new to BFS so, Pixy could turn the OP away after having certain expectations. A lot of the techniques the OP p...
