Re: Steez SV TW castability compared to Tat SV TW

I have a Steez sv tw that I bought because I was looking for a smaller-ish reel that was lighter then an sv103 to use for heavier lures then I want to use a sv105 for. I also picked up a Aldebaran 50 at the same time because I am a child who hates money. The Steeze is far nicer and easier to cast th...

Re: Floro on SV spools v.s. conventional

Wouldn't you be casting all the leader or fluoro and braid off on a BFS spool??? My SV105 with 8lb P-Line Halo and a 1/4oz dropshot weight will almost dump the spool. If it was over 1/2 full I would be in trouble to have a big connecting knot come flying through. On my Chronarch MGL (backing is old...

Re: Floro on SV spools v.s. conventional

I have even noticed it makes a pretty big difference to fill even half way with old braid. I always just filled SV spools all the way with fluoro until I recently got a scale and was shocked. A big Zillion TWS spool full of braid weighed like 27 grams, and a G1 1016 weighed like 23 grams full of fl...

Re: Roboworm Ned Worms

I bought a few packs and am unimpressed with them as a MWF plastic, they have very poor durability on a jighead and don't get hit more often than the Zman stuff. I do think they will be great rigged weightless on a small EWG hook for slow moving water, fished like a sluggo. They are pretty heavy for...

Man, the urge to sell my old-gen XX DropShot and pick up a Whipsnake is getting stronger by the second.

Re: Shimano Loomis Conquest rods

not sure what you want this rod for but the 110 special has a short handle (like an old BCR or 6'6" MBR) and is like a 7ft rod above the reel seat and pretty well balanced IMO with even a lightish reel like a Core or Curado 71. I like it for 1/2oz walking topwater (i like a little more tip for...

Re: Shimano Loomis Conquest rods

Cool, thanks guys! It sounds like I should be looking at the CNQ 842C if I want to upgrade or the 853c GLX if I want a more lateral move. I need to get the CR723 GLX some more time on the water before I make any moves, but if it can cover the presentations I use the 783c GLX for then I think the 783...

Re: Long distance spool for sv103

Those of you looking for spool storage options; if you know someone with a machine shop, mechanic etc, a lot of the taps etc that they use, come in heavy duty screw style packaging. Similar to the proprietary spool cases the reel companies used to supply but heavy duty and probably for free. That's...

Re: Shimano Loomis Conquest rods

i found the 843 to be noticeably more powerful than the NRX version. can anyone compare the tip and the power of the CNQ 842 to the NRX 842 or old GLX 842? Exactly. The Conquest 842 is noticeably more powerful than the NRX or GLX version as well. I've been fishing crank baits, jerk baits, and a 5&q...

Re: Edge inshore 6'6" light

I wish I could find the link, but I read a post somewhere from a guy who worked at a UPS/Fedex sorting center and he was saying that there was a specific conveyor machine that most places use that only accepts items around 6'-something long, anything longer has to be manually walked to the end of th...

Re: Anybody else mess with the Fuego CT?

Here's the schematic. Pretty simple, just place the removed parts in succession, so you know what order to place them back. Taking pictures each step is also a good Idea. http://www.fishingreelsschematic.com/2017/07/daiwa-fuego-ct-schematics.html?m=1 Thanks! I got mine in the other day. They seem r...

Re: Long distance spool for sv103

Picked this up and cut foam to fit the compartments. I also added some type of foam tape to the top of the lid. They don’t move when the lid is closed and it’s pretty sturdy. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/150x100q90/922/GYWznE.jpg Cool idea, thanks! I think I still want something smaller to ho...
