Re: Abu Garcia Burner 10.1:1 Gear Ratio Thoughts

Heck yeah. I was there at turn four (the Silverstone-esque esses) watching him fend off Lewis, forcing him to wear out his rubber. He earned that one. One of the best races I've ever seen. Raikonnen is definitely a living legend. You never know, he could work wonders in that Sauber. LeClerc certainl...

Re: Abu Garcia Burner 10.1:1 Gear Ratio Thoughts

Thank you guys! Now I finally got it :) I haven’t been there 10 years ago, because those times we had active and high quality fishing sites in Finland. But nowadays there’s no good quality active sites in Finland. But I found that this site is active and high quality. Because of that I decided to r...

Re: G1 1012SV in an SS SV?

What about the steez sv 105 spool? I got a good deal on one on the boards because the Ray's rotor tweak I did made it all but unfishable. I'm hoping it free spools a little better without getting wild with light stuff.

No joke! Should have a ryoga at the very least for something like that.

Re: Daiwa Zillion SV TW

Don't get me wrong, the OG is a great reel. I would never part with mine. It's smooth, it's refined, it's a tank, solid as a rock. But I also felt the need to upgrade the handle so I could use lighter cork knobs, the set plate screw because it was fugly, and the drag because it was herky jerky. I ha...

Re: Daiwa Zillion SV TW

I like the ergonomics of the TD reels better, but this reel makes a good compliment to my now 5 different versions of the Zillion reels. Really? The way I palm reels the TW feels great. I love that the U shape of the top plate give my thumb a comfortable place to rest. I kind of wish it had a point...

Re: Daiwa Zillion SV TW

Does it have brass gears or aluminum?Cant seem to find any info.. yes the zillion 1016sv does have brass gears, the only let down of the reel is not having a alloy sideplate and set plate. I don't see that as a negative. That's the main reason it's over an ounce lighter than the original. It's ever...

Sounds like a good idea to me. I know the flipping and cover shot hooks are the real deal.

Re: High Speed Reels (9:1 Type)

In my experience, the faster the reel, the noisier the gears, even brand new. I think it just has to do with more torque going through a smaller pinion. At ~30% faster than a 6.3, the pinion and spool are flying around by comparison. I haven't had any issues with gear wear in my TWS 9.1 in heavy cov...

Re: Megabass Vision 95

I know the oneten Jr. exhibits the attributes you describe, except it rises and has a moving weight so you still get good distance. I wouldn't reach for it over the original unless I just couldn't get a bite otherwise. If you've never fished a oneten, get a oneten.

Re: Daiwa Zillion SV TW

You won't want to put it down. I use one of mine, a 6.3:1, with 12# fluoro on a 6'10" MHF that I use for 3.8" keitechs with two 1/32 nail weights on a 3/0 hook more than anything and it casts the hell out of those even without the nail weights and is very smooth and connected on the retrie...

Re: Daiwa Zillion SV TW

As far as I'm concerned, that reel is the best reel ever made. It is my favorite by far, and I wouldn't trade it for any Zillion, Alphas, or Steez out there, except maybe to flip it and buy two more.
