Re: td luna 300 question

I feel your pain as a fellow lefty reel user. That's the main reason I got that Luna 103L for a cranking reel. I didn't want to pay for the JDM Zillion TWS 5.5:1 lefty. I still almost bought one from TW when they were deeply discounted, but I successfully beat the bait monkey back for a change.

Re: td luna 300 question

Probably. The gears are probably bigger. If you're really concerned with durability you could go with the Lexa HD which has stainless gears. As far as the Luna goes, they're the same. It's possible to change the plastic bushing beside the roller clutch to a ball bearing, at least on the 103, and if ...

Re: Braid vs Fluorocarbon as main line

I throw pretty small topwaters the few times I do throw them, do you think 16lb mono will still allow me to chunk little poppers and walkers without affecting their action negatively? Ah. No, I use 15# braid for little poppers, binksy's, and Zara puppies. I was thinking more along the lines of pomp...

Re: Shimano's newer braking

Tatula SV, Zillion Tw 1516, and T3 MX. I especially do better with the SV on the lower end. The Zillion casts heavier further for me. The MX is just a solid caster all around. Heck yeah, I put some hedgehog hd's on my Zillion 100 TWS and it slings heavier stuff like there's no tomorrow. It doesn't ...

Re: Braid vs Fluorocarbon as main line

I use it on an old Zillion TWS with a 7'3"MH and the issues mainly occur with 1/2 FB jigs or slightly heavier lures. Senko's, lighter TX rigs, lighter 4" or less swimbaits, etc. don't really do it so bad. Just seems I would rather have fluoro now and I'm tempted to switch to 12lb mono on ...

Yeah, they're the same size. The spool in the USDM Zillion HD is the exact same spool.

Daiwa line roller ball bearing washers

I have the bearings, but I need the washers that flank either side. Anyone know a good source?

Re: Braid vs Fluorocarbon as main line

If you spent all your time bass fishing, it may take a while, but you'd get it. Like Hogsticker said, many of us start out thinking we can get away with exclusive use of braid, and with the right rods some find it possible. But after breaking off in rip-rap, Or at the leader knot, Or missing a fish ...

Re: Flick Shake 9.8"

I know it, I use those all the time too, and I've learned to really feel the weight of the fish before I put pressure on them and let that sharp @$$ hook do most of the work. I've got some 1/16th and 1/32nd oz W nail weights (about the only thing bass pro is good for,) and some heavier "neko st...

Re: Flick Shake 9.8"

Thanks for the insight. It's just a conundrum. The baits must weigh at least 3/4 oz, so the rod I typically fish wacky with is out in favor of something heavier, which means heavier hooks and line, though the jackall flick-shake heads aren't the lightest wire, so I guess I'll start there. My medium ...

Re: Braid vs Fluorocarbon as main line

I love braid with soft glass composite rods for all hardbaits, including topwaters (except walking baits and propbaits [they foul too easily]), swim jigs, spinnerbaits, and chatterbaits, and obviously with a frog rod for frogs, a flipping rod for dense vegetation. You don't need line with 50# breaki...

Re: New Tatula 150

Says Aluminum Frame and Sideplate. Is it like the Zillion 100's full aluminum or is it have one sideplate that will be plastic? Well, every Zillion has a plastic palm side plate, and all the TWS Zillions have a Zaion gear side plate. It has an aluminum frame and gear side plate and a plastic palm s...
