Re: Shin Fukae knot

As far as I can tell, he's going out the opposite way. So far, just testing the knot on the workbench, it's holding great.

Re: Daiwa Steez 103HL breakdown hot sauce replacement?

Superlube is a great all round grease and the Daiwa oil is good too. If you want, TSI321 is another oil option.

Re: Aerosal Spray for Cleaning Bearings

I couldn't figure out for the life of me what warranted so many pages of discussion on such an old topic. I feel like tokugawa summed it up with his explanation of the 3 types of folks here... That being said, here's my anecdotal evidence: I have yet to melt or otherwise harm a non-metal bearing ret...

Re: What's REALLY next for Daiwa

Adam, is there any benefit from changing the bearing (?). Which bearing do you install? I felt there was a difference, the stock breading was really noisy and loose. I replaced it with a generic ceramic hybrid from Ali express which seemed to be marginally better. If I used it a lot, I'd find anoth...

Re: What's REALLY next for Daiwa

30mm... Can't stop thinking how small that is, isn't the current 34mm? Daiwa spool sizes https://www.tackletour.net/viewtopic.php?t=76474 I would have preferred a new Steez with a shallow / super shallow 34 mm spool That is how I felt, maybe a Zillion with a version of the 1012 G1 SV, that maybe is...

Daiwa also has 3 bearing supporting the drive shaft: 2 ball bearings and the AR bearing.

Re: TD ZILLION HLC SPOOL INDUCTOR SWAP?

I don't think that's possible, unless the end of the spool shaft that the inductor goes on is the same diameter as the SV spools. Even then, you would have to glue in the lower SV ramp after sanding it down to fit. Not a major deal, but a little work nonetheless. There's a thread in here somewhere d...

No, not original. I'm willing to bet that you could put a stiffer spring on a stock Steez 100 spool and get the same characteristics...

Re: Ice rods

I ice fish, but not with high and gear since its in brackish or salt water. We only really fish for smelt and it's really easy to feel when they're on. Most guys around here actually use what amounts to a cutoff broom handle, like this but round: https://fishingandhuntingheaven.com/fishing/products/...

Re: Light line leader connection

I have the winter to perfect my FG knot, but my go to for light line is am Alberto with the braid doubled up. That seems to really help keep it from cutting through the leader.

Find yourself a slant bridge and have a builder cut the middle out of it and graft the tip into the handle. Boom! Megabass ice rod! :big grin: :D

Re: TD Z 7.1:1 RH gears

There are definitely a number of variables to sort out, most of which I'm unable to actually measure (gear size vs cranking efficiency, gearbox size vs gear size, etc...) by I though that the pinion might be small enough to get a bigger main gear in there and speed it up a bit.

You're all doing great collaborative work on these breeders, I salute you!! =D> =D>

@jjbassnforfun: do you think you might be interested in making a set of faster gears for the ugly duckling TD-Z's...?
