Re: Question about leader knots

No worries, I was able to figure out that they're used interchangeably. No harm done \:D/

Re: Question about leader knots

Thank you for the in-depth reply Toad! Is this the FG knot you mean: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rj9I4j0Jj9c ...? I understand what you mean about secondary priorities, hopefully I won't have to tie one of these while fishing but if I should have to, I'll practice myself into peak knot tying sha...

Re: Question about leader knots

So I just watched a youtube video on how to tie this knot and I think I figured out what I was doing wrong. I was pulling both the tag ends and main lines tight, rather than just the main lines. I'll tie a few that way to see if they're any better. I figure they will be.

Re: Question about leader knots

OK, I'll give that a try today. I can probably find a few minutes to mess around with it. It's only a work day after all :big grin:

Re: Question about leader knots

I tied a couple of Albertos today. What I noticed was that the braid would knot really tight near where the leader was doubled over but it would take some coaxing to get the 3 turns opposite that end to pull tight. I was able to get them tight with a ton of pressure and then re-tightening the lines...

Re: Quick spinnerbait question

The blade on the clevis stabilizing the bait makes a lot of sense, as do you other points. Just for that reason alone though I can see why no one uses a swivel on the clevis. Thanks for the explanation!

Quick spinnerbait question

Looking at the front blade on a double blade spinnerbait (the one attached to the arm with a clevis), why is this not also attached to the clevis with a ball bearing swivel? Not only would you be able to switch this blade out, but I would think it would spin rather than flail about. I'm sure there's...

Re: Orra 2 SX

Will the gears swap out as well? I'm assuming the Revo Rocket (9:1) gears aren't a direct replacement...? I did a little reading already but got a little confused with the different iterations of the Revo (gen 3, MGX, Inshore, etc...) Is it just the gen 3 info I should be looking at or is there more...

Re: Question about leader knots

I like the idea of doubling the braid over, I have had a couple of Albright knots come undone while testing them before casting. I realize this is no fault of the knot, just my own, but if I can tie the Alberto more consistently, I think the tiny extra bit of bulk that doubling the braid over causes...

Re: Question about leader knots

Thanks for the diagram Frank.

Dave: I like your idea of a simple wrap over the tag of the leader, I wonder if there's a way to make that happen... Time to research knots

Re: Question about leader knots

Frank: what's a keeper wrap? I'll look it up. Would I do these before I thread the braid tag end back through the leader? I should have mentioned that the Palomar was new and ground breaking to me as of this past year (I'm pretty new still...) Thor: gotcha, that sounds like a good (easier) alternati...
