Still got "dc reel itch", which one?

Well I still have no clue which DC reel I want, I've narrowed it down to the scorpion DC or the metanium DC. I do plan on picking up the anteras DC next year around summer for topwater. Not sure which one palms better. I noticed the scorpion does weigh more but I have a metanium mgl that weighs less...

Re: Steez SV TW vs Metanium MGL

Have both reels and agree with above statements that between those two I'd say the Steez would be better suited for finesse stuff. Also agree with considering the Aldebaran too. I also have an Aldebaran 50HG and it sits on my NRX 852. Perfect shakey head combo, imho. Basically, here is how I utiliz...

Re: Steez SV TW vs Metanium MGL

I have both & out of those 2, id go with the steez sv tw. But id say a better shimano option would be the aldebaran 50hg. The cheapest ive got a steez sv tw was 425 compared to 300 for the alde 50hg. I have the alde 50hg on my nrx852c & at 4.7oz, id say it was made for that rod.

Re: Metanium MGL Review

And maybe also why the daiwas flagship steez sv tw never got any love. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewdaiwasteezatw.html That heavy azz "saltwater basically" steez A and the steez SV TW are two diff animals. Ive got both metanium mgl & steez SV TW, just would've like to see how the scores are agai...

Re: Metanium MGL Review

I was also curious why all the shimano mgl reels got reviewed except the best one. And maybe also why the daiwas flagship steez sv tw never got any love. The metanium mgl from japan sites for around $300 is the best value by far for any high end reel. They are casting machines & are smoother than my...

Re: Daiwa steez sv tw spool question

Thanks for the input. I actually got to fish the xh today with a 1/4oz zoom mag 2 on my 893. I couldn't tell any more distance i was gettin compared to fishing the sh model. I always fished the sh model comfortably with the mag brake on 2. With the xh model for some reason i had more nest on 2 brake...

Daiwa steez sv tw spool question

Ive had the 7.1sh ratio for about 6 months now. Yesterday i got in the 8.1xh and i immediately thought that the spool looked real shallow. Upon looking at the specs, some odd reason the h & sh reels hold more line than the xh model. This is the FIRST time ive seen this in a reel. I haven't tried yet...

Is anyone else dissapointed in Icast '17?

Guess i could have posted this under rods. But if you fish with nrx, zbones & steez ags rods, it really takes alot to get your attention. I really didn't expect too much from daiwa as they had release some reels right before icast. I had tried 13 fishing kp & was not happy, so the new $200 ball bear...

Re: High end reel advice

I had the mgx 2, sold it. Even then purchased the mgxtreme2, even paying $250 i was dissapointed and sold it. Just not in the same league as daiwa/shimano. I tend to fish my heavier baits and combos with longer rods on my metanium mgls. For my shorter more light weight combos, i either use the aldeb...

Re: Gloomis rod above NRX????!!!!!

JP DeRose makes the bold statement that the Conquest rods ARE more sensitive than NRXs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEeAwjeS_BM How else would you try to sell a $650 rod, LOL? Right now I'll base my opinion by the "on the water" experience from the guys at tackle tour. GUESS its possible when th...

Re: Gloomis rod above NRX????!!!!!

$650 for this rod? Crazy My thoughts exactly! And after i read the write up that sensitivity is on par but not better than the nrx, i completely lost interest. If light weight, sensitive & better value is what you're looking for, i own and would suggest 3 other brands. Nrx of course, '15 kistler zb...

Re: Gloomis rod above NRX????!!!!!

I read the review. Said they're lighter than the nrx but my 852 is 3.7oz, 893 is 3.9oz & 873 is 4.2oz so that doesn't bother me. The action lengths are nothing special, recoil guides and split grips doesn't bother me one bit. I don't see this rod being a hit. Thank goodness their review said sensiti...

Awesome. Stupid question, what exactly did you put in them for your 894? Balance never been a issue to me BUT is there really a big diff? Ive got a mgl on my 894

Re: Need little help on NRX choice

Ok I'm gonna try the end cap on the 894 for sure I don't plan on selling it. I'm still thinking about the 873. Would it be overkill to have the 853, 873, and 894? There is a big difference for me between the 854 and 894. I'm just wondering if I get the 873, if I would end up getting rid of somethin...
