Modified Stile SS. This thing bombs some 1/4oz baits, shallower spool than Curado 50e and finesse braking system works great. Pulled some nice redfish off those docks on this evening.

Re: Curado 70 Gears

So I decided to order the gear set and see what could be done, since Bantam made it sound like it could be possible with some machining. Luckily I didn’t have to make any major changes, and the gear set from the Cu71 HG fit perfectly in my Stile SS 151HG. Only mods that had to be done were punch out...

A few big Speckled Trout from this summer. These 6-8.5lb fish were crushing the Twitchin Minnow walked quickly just under the surface! https://s19.postimg.cc/q1bcej8r7/344BD804-12CB-4990-B537-31C1DD03BC13.png https://s19.postimg.cc/90sg5vqkz/FEB08D88-0F8F-4260-81F3-7CFC119F5C09.png https://s19.posti...

Re: Where are the shimanos?

^^^ Correct. And I should say I’ve never had an issue in freshwater with any of the aluminum gear sets, I only swap out for saltwater use and more speed. Definitely prefer brass though.

Fishing4Fun wrote:Thanks JB! Are the 7:7.1 the only “brass” set for this platform?

The set from the Curado 50e (6.4:1=26ipt) fits as well. Great cranking ratio, little slow for most other things. KTF also made a 7.9:1 ratio brass set, but have no idea if they are still available anywhere.

Re: Where are the shimanos?

Picked up this little gem off EBay last week. Listed as used, but saw absolutely zero evidence of any use. It is in mint condition, and not even a spec of grass/dirt on it anywhere. Spool was included for a great price, but won’t be able to use it. Added the 102mm handle off a Stile and the high sp...

Re: Aldebaran mg7

Owned a bunch of Core 50s and Curado 50s when they were available, and have been picking up used Aldebaran MGs now. They are tight, solid little reels, but lack the power that Xship provides. Control is to good in my hands as they are impossible to backlash with only 1 brake on. This reduces distanc...

I also use Columbia, worked well for me for years. Their Watertight jacket is awesome.

Re: Aftermarket handles

Shimano. Metanium XG(silver) or Chronarch XG(black) handles are both 96mm I believe and very cheap for just the handle. Check out Shimano’s parts ordering site.

Re: Too much oil on SVS breaks??

I simply clean them, no oil, and I rarely even do that. Get a lot more distance this way and haven’t had any issues with my brakes. Never understood that paper from Shimano saying to do it every trip.

Re: Do you lube your ceramic hybrid BB's?

I fish saltwater more than fresh, so have no choice but to use some sort of lubricant for corrosion protection. I use TSI 321 in my ceramics. Dip the bearings, lay on a paper towel to drain the excess, install and go fish. Leaves a very light film on the stainless parts that lasts a looong time, nev...

Re: TRANX 300 HG Handle Play

SOunds like it's not assembled properly. Tightening the nut shouldn't effect the drag. I agree. Is the drag star not seated properly on the shaft? Drag star should move independently of the handle slightly up or down on the drive shaft, and handle should tighten against the shaft where the threads ...

Re: Swimming Unweighted Worms Rod

893c NRX has a really nice tip for casting those baits, and still has plenty of backbone to get them out. I use that rod with a Chronarch or Metanium and 40lb braid. I also add a 1/16oz weight when needed. The Ultravibe Speed Worms and Cutter Worms cast pretty good already, but the weight gives you ...
