Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

I love to cross over my bass fishing techniques into saltwater when chasing redfish and trout, and when the cold weather hits the area, it’s time to move to the marsh where these techniques really work well. Chatterbaits and frogs are my top baits in these areas and the redfish really hammer them. T...

Re: Weight Transfer System Stuck

Maybe the hundreds (thousands ?) of casts resulting in the impact of a metal ball into softer plastic has changed the dimension of the plastic to the point that it now has trapped the ball ? These baits weren’t used a whole lot before they malfunctioned, but this is possible. I do load the heck out...

Re: CNQ842c What are you using it for?

842 is probably my favorite rod of all time no matter what series it came from. I use my Conquest for jerkbaits and topwater mainly, but fish plastics from time to time. Jerkbaits from 3/16-1/2oz are in its zone, and fishes them really well with plenty of flex in the rod to keep them pinned. Some of...

Re: Weight Transfer System Stuck

Maybe a tiny bit of salt water got in and then left salt crystals which are blocking the balls from moving. If the chamber is tight enough, this could cause what you're describing. Not sure how water would get in, though. That has definitely happened before, after a lot of hard use they cracked at ...

Re: Weight Transfer System Stuck

If you're prepared to drill, just drill a hole with the smallest bit you have underneath the stuck ball and just push it free with the bit or needle. Epoxy the hole afterwards. Would be pretty inconspicuous. I think this is gonna be the way to go. To worried about heat and cold cracking the bait if...

Re: Weight Transfer System Stuck

Thanks guys for all the ideas, really appreciated. Definitely an annoying problem that I hope no one else has to deal with. Gonna try some of these things and if nothing works will contact the companies and see if they will help. If not we may be drilling some holes and repainting

Re: Weight Transfer System Stuck

Not that it is really stuck. Just a good twitch and the ball bearings would come back. Really stuck. I’ve flicked it, tapped it on the table, smacked it against the table  they aren’t moving. Wow, that's unheard of, but plausible. So are these weight and chamber visible? Like they are for sure...

Good idea, I’ll try some hot water next. Tried using a heat gun very briefly, and in and out of the freezer a few times but it didn’t help.

Re: Weight Transfer System Stuck

Hmm...Just this week I figured out why my Gancraft Rest 108SP (Vision 110 equivilent) was casting like a balled up paper towel. It was just the opposite, the magnet at the front was not letting go of a couple of balls very easily. Haven't had it back out since, but figured I would just have to slin...

Re: Weight Transfer System Stuck

I’ve never heard of this happening before. And some of my lures are pretty old and abused. It is a weird problem. I have 4 lures that have done this, 1 older Daiwa SP Minnow, and 3 Lucky Craft Flash Minnows. It doesn’t happen to all of the ones I own, seems to be only the ones I used during the fal...

Re: What's next for Shimano???

Core 50mg7 is nice for its lightweight but the new 70's and even the Ci4 will handily out cast it. stock vs stock Couldn’t agree more, it’s not even close. The control of the VBS brakes was nice I guess, but always felt like they were holding the reel back on distance. The finesse VBS system will b...

Re: What's next for Shimano???

I fish inshore much more than freshwater, so I’d like to see some compact saltwater reels brought to our shores like they have in Japan. Seems like every company thinks they need huge line capacity for inshore fishing, which isn’t the case. We throw a lot of baits in the 3/16/1/4oz range, and the sm...

Re: Owner Zo-wire trebles

I was just going to post a question about these hooks and saw this post. Seems not many have tried these hooks. I tried the STX-58 trebles when they first came out a few years ago, and really liked them on my saltwater jerkbaits. Very little corrosion/rust after extended use, never bent, and stayed ...
