Re: Aerosal Spray for Cleaning Bearings

Brake parts cleaner or carburetor cleaner. I just buy the cheap stuff from Walmart and it works great, a lot faster than Acetone. I always dip in Acetone for a final cleaning of any residue. Wear gloves, a mask, and some goggles if you are gonna be spraying a bearing with it. Don’t want it on your s...

Re: Jerkbait rod

If you liked the 843 GLX for treble baits(topwater, jerkbaits), I think you would love the NRX version. Same great versatile action with a softer tip that’s awesome for those heavier baits. I even throw a lot of mid depth cranks and lipless on it.

Re: Jerkbait rod

Man, I'm 6'2" and I feel small to all the 6'6" and taller guys here that can use 7' rods for jerkbaits. I know you guys ain't sideways jerkin because we all know that a jerkbait loses about 1' of depth for every 4' it dives when you do that. I’m 5’11 and use a 7’ rod. Usually a few guys i...

Re: Noisy Curado 201HG's

The older version I never messed with, and could see it causing some headaches, but the new one is pretty simple. What would someone need to do to clean it if they didn’t have an Ultrasonic Cleaner, since you shouldn’t take it apart to get it truly clean? Thanks.

Re: Noisy Curado 201HG's

If you don’t feel comfortable running an ARB through an ultrasonic, pull the bearing out of the reel and take it apart. The newer ARBs in Shimanos have the plastic cage, and are very easy to disassemble. That plastic cage slides out easily, but be careful not to lose any of the rollers. I did this y...

Re: Noisy Curado 201HG's

where you source the pinion bearing from? Most places are selling spool or knob bearings only. And one more question, will chronach 50E or citica 200e pinion fit to core 100 ? I am having issue with core 100 being rough on retrieve and gears looks to be in good shape, so I suspect pinon or AR beari...

They can definitely have that glow at times. Caught another about 50’ away that was washed out pink looking. No idea what causes the color changes, but it’s cool to see!

Re: High quality oil, lube, etc

TSI 321 has been the biggest breakthrough for my uses. Since copycat site turned me onto TSI132, I've used nothing else! edit: Really guys? "copycat site"? It really is some amazing stuff! I learned about it a few years ago on Alan Tani’s forum and have been using it ever since. Haven’t s...

Re: Noisy Curado 201HG's

If you have an ultrasonic cleaner, pop the ARB out and run it through in a small container of Simple Green/water or Dawn/water and see what comes out. If it’s pretty rusty, it’s probably pitted and may feel rough on retrieve.

Re: Casting vs. throwing your back out

We do a lot of long casting fishing huge grass flats in both salt and fresh, and setting your tackle up properly makes it a lot easier on the body. Getting the rod to load properly is the most important thing since most reels are pretty evenly matched, so we tend to use rods where the lure weight is...

Re: High quality oil, lube, etc

TSI 321 has been the biggest breakthrough for my uses. I use it in my spool bearings, levelwind and ARB and no longer have any rust/corrosion issues at all. Corrosion X grease has been great used to pack frame bearings, and again, never any rusted or seized bearings. Penn grease seems to protect my ...

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

I love to cross over my bass fishing techniques into saltwater when chasing redfish and trout, and when the cold weather hits the area, it’s time to move to the marsh where these techniques really work well. Chatterbaits and frogs are my top baits in these areas and the redfish really hammer them. T...

Re: Weight Transfer System Stuck

Maybe the hundreds (thousands ?) of casts resulting in the impact of a metal ball into softer plastic has changed the dimension of the plastic to the point that it now has trapped the ball ? These baits weren’t used a whole lot before they malfunctioned, but this is possible. I do load the heck out...
