Re: DX745 v's GLX894 FPR

The FPR designation is a big deal in the rod ratings...to me, it means to add 2 powers to the label rating, vs. a BCR or JWR..ball park, anyway. The older BCR and the newer JWR serve as a baseline in my mind...and I know an FPR/BCFR or CRR (Carolina rig Rod) is going to fish significantly heavier t...

DX745 v's GLX894 FPR

For the last 3 years I've been using a Dobyns DX745 for pitching 1/2oz Jigs. Dobyns lists this as an XHF 5 power. Its always felt really good in the hand and balanced out well, but it almost feels under powered in the tip. Almost like I need to jump to a 746. Fast forward to today. I made a trade on...

That is gorgeous man. I have most of my reels done up that way. Something about black and red just screams sexy beast :big grin:

Best reel to balance out an NRX873

Never owned an NRX but I have an 873 coming this week. My plan is to drag 3/8oz jigs with it. Especially in the cold weather dragging football hair jigs.

My only free reel at the moment is an IP79 and is kinda heavy. Does the 873 balance out better with a lightweight reel or?

Thanks in advance

Thanks. I will either be throwing a Steez SHA or Metanium MG7 on it.

Re: Looking for a jig rod

I've been using my Dobyns Champion 733FH for about 3 years now. It has a nice soft tip for bombing my 3/8 oz (with trailer) football hair jigs. Perfect for light wire hooks too as it has a fast tip and won't bend a hook on the set. Dobyns lists it has a MH 3 power. It has plenty of backbone and I've...

Re: looks like foregrips are making a mini-comeback

If they all went back to full grips we would all btch  Just like we did in 2008 when only a couple of companies made rods without foregrips. Now have everyone has converted to little to no foregrips we want them to go back; sounds right to me   You're 100% right ](*,) I did the same,...

I'm kinda digging that blue look. I have been wanting to trick out a stock Core in blue to either match my NRX or Dobyns Champion

Re: Sunline Assassin

I placed an order for some yesterday in 15#. I'm impressed by the articles videos etc. never used Sunline product except for Supernatural. My comparison will be to 15# InvisX. If anything it has 25 yards extra which means I won't have to back it with mono and get two full spoolings.

Re: if you had to use one line of rod what would you choose?

Champion. For moving baits they are perfect. Bottom contact I'd want a DX but the champion line has cranking swimbait jerkbait flip pitch punch finesse etc.
