Re: Spool to fit a Megabass IS Casting reel
I have several of the ZPI RC-001 spools. None of mine freespool well at all. Even with all the breaking off and no spool tension, they freespool a few seconds at best. With all that being said, do not let that fool you as to how they perform. They are killer for long distance casting and I find they...

Re: Megabass BEARING DOWN
The only Bearing Down I have experience with is the Phase III F5-611X. However, that is the best 3/8-1/2 pitching and skipping rod I have ever used! It is very sensitive and well balanced, but that's not what sets this rod apart in my hands. It is how perfectly the tip loads up when skipping under d...

Re: Good multi-purpose baitcaster
If you are looking for an all around rod, I recommend something in the 6'8"-7'3" length. I don't like to include all manufacturers in this statement, but in this case I will; I think a medium-heavy power fast taper rod will likely be your most versatile option. Also, a price range would help. I will...

Snow Day Project
Here are some walnut knobs that I made to fit Daiwa posts. I am going to try some fiddle-back and curly maple knobs in the future, as well as different designs. These particular knobs are my prototypes and are surprisingly comfortable. They are the same diameter as a standard Daiwa smooth black knob...

Rod for a Presso
I have a spare Presso sitting around that I want to put in to my regular lineup. Clearly, I am looking for a finesse casting rod. Currently, my finesse casting rods consist of: NRX 852, X7 Super Eiger, X7 Shading X. I do not want a duplicate rod, and am not limited to Megabass or Loomis. I am open t...

Re: IS 73 trouble
The reel is setting in my garage. Temperature got much warmer here today and guess what... the bait didn't fall. I am leaning toward it was a temperature related issue at this point. Nonetheless, I am still going to pull it apart and try to correct the issue.
Thanks for all the help!

Re: IS 73 trouble
I just think it's odd that it randomly started doing this. I haven't had the reel apart for service or anything. I will try cleaning the inner tube and see what it does. Thanks for the help!

Re: IS 73 trouble
Just went and checked the reel. Sure enough... the handle IS turning! So I guess I need to pick up a new anti-reverse bearing.

Re: Super slow
I'm sure some killer posts are likely to come of everyone's lineups for the spring.
In my case, this is definitely the calm before the storm, I have a post coming in the next few weeks sure to move the enthusiast meters here on TT

Re: IS 73 trouble
No braid on this reel. The best i can figure is it is just slipping very slowly, like you said. It's not bothering me too bad as far as fishability, as it still holds plenty of drag pressure. However, it is very interesting and I would like to know why it's doing it!

IS 73 trouble
I have an IS 73 that I keep on my bearing down. I always have a 3/8 texas rig tied on it. The past couple days when I have walked out to my rod rack i noticed that the bait had came out of the hook keeper and had dropped about 5 inches. I didnt think much of it and wound it back up to the keeper. I ...

Re: megabass xx 6'8 fast moving special
I fish this rod pretty regularly. I have fished it with a wide range of reels, and have settled on keeping a pixy with a CP-301 spool on it. It should work well for your intended purposes. I use mine mainly for small jerkbaits and smaller crankbaits. I can see it being a good rod for poppers too. It...
