Re: Reviews out on new 2018 Ryoga?

So we received the Ryoga 1016H from Windy City on Friday. I had the chance to open it up this morning. Starting with the obvious signs, I pulled the gear set out. Lack of lube was a non issue on this reel. There was plenty of grease on the gears. After cleaning and inspecting the gear set, there wer...

Re: Spool Speed bearings

Hard to say for sure, but they look a lot like the bearings found on Alibaba. Hopefully that is not the case.

They don't add them to keep the price point down. A bearing is better than a bushing in EVERY instance EXCEPT saltwater use.

Re: Zillion hlc tw 7:3

The 5.5 gears from the Zillion TWS will fit the HLC. OG Zillion gears however will not work.

Re: Zpi nrc001 m and pg with braid?

IMO, it shouldn't be a problem with braid over 20lb. Thank you Cracker. Should I worry about thinner braid - which I normally use - with the spool material? I have never owned a Zpi spool before. If thin braid is a problem, I will use mono... You should be fine to use any braid you want as long as ...

Re: Metanium DC - maintenance

The 4 biggest things you can do to extend the life of your reels is 1) try to keep it as clean as possible. wipe it down, keep it out of the elements when not in use. 2) keep the level wind lubed. I prefer grease for this, as it helps catch any debris and floats it up in the grease instead of allowi...

Re: Broken sv spool

Do they sell the little white piece? I seen the trap has stock spool for $70. May just order a new one if I can't get the part. Is there a big difference in g1 and normal sv spool. They are same price just didn't know if one was better than other. This is the updated base. This will work on any of ...

No, you can not convert a non SV spool to SV.

Re: Curado K gears

Only the drive gear is compatible you still need a Met. pinion and the Curado handle side drag washer. My XG's have never been smoother although I have not had them on the water yet but from what I can tell so far I'm all smiles :D Kurt x2 Does this mean we can finally put carbontex drag washers in...

Re: Curado K gears

Gears should always be replaced as a set. They wear together and once they wear, they should be replaced. Typically the pinion will wear faster than the drive. I don't know what you guys are calling gear buzz. Are you trying to describe sound, or feel? Properly greased gears with our ACE2 grease ta...

Re: Curado K gears

I carry a Strider...but have love for Spyderco. Aside from cool knives... The brass drive gear will fit and work in the Metanium BUT the brass pinion gear material is also harder. The aluminum drive gear that comes in Metanium is a harder material than brass. In order to have better durability, the...
