Re: Gomexus handle nut
I’ve swapped about 6 reels over to Gomexus handles. None of the nuts have come loose, they have an o-ring in the design to help keep water out but I think it also helps to stop it coming loose a bit too (so no need to go crazy tight with the nut… just firm).

Re: Heavy duty vs elegance
Wow! Please excuse my ignorance, but can you tell me what the exact model names of your reels are? (Especially the gold model... I'm assuming its a conquest but have never seen one like that) Exsense DC Antares Conquest 101 All of them have handles changed, the CQ has an Avail handle with Avail ros...

Re: What would you like to see from Daiwa next?
I'd like to see an updated Luna platform... With some different lines like they used to do with the millionaires. There hasn't been any limited runs with the round platforms for a while now.

Tricks, tips & secrets
Hi everyone, I thought it might be valuable to share little tricks etc that we've picked up when rod building over the years, basic - advanced, and have them all in one spot. I've found that if I use Gudebrod black thread without filler, the thread deepens to a rich black when I apply the epoxy and ...

Re: Broke MHX blank finding spine
Nice article! I believe it's good rod building practice (when you know how to load a rod blank properly) to check all blanks before building them to make sure the blank has not been damaged in transit or is faulty...saves a lot of effort building it up for nothing. Just my experience... but I've fou...

Re: Best way to learn new or rebuild
All great advice here! I'd also add that starting from scratch is probably best first off. In saying that, rebuilding an existing rod will make it easier for you when it comes to guide spacing... I know you said you'd be changing the grip length so perhaps the stripper guide and the next one or two ...

Re: Turning a spinning rod into a casting rod?
I'm doing this exact thing! ...turning my Loomis SJR781S into a baitcast rod although I do have my own rod lathe so I don't have to factor in the cost of labour. Fully stripped the blank (reel seat and all) and starting over

Trinidad 14a, 12a & 10a size difference
Hi everyone, Just wondering what the physical size difference is between these reels. I'm looking for a small, palmable overhead jigging reel for my inshore jigging rod (Daiwa Blue Backer rod which is light and powerful). I was using my Black Sheep 300 but need a faster retrieve and a more powerful ...
