Re: Sunline Xplasma Asegai

Got a chance to use the 18lb with 3/8 oz jigs, and the 16lb with 3/16 oz shakey heads this week. Very pleased with these lines, definite improvement over the 10, 15, and 20lb yellow 832 lines I was using. None of that sticky coating, and the light green color stays on the line and is just as visibl...

Re: High end trout specific rods

How are the Phenix Iron feather rods?

They sell a 7'1" and a 7'7" one piece.

3/16oz is my most used weight for fishing rivers for large browns.

How long do you want your rod to be? (My sense is that generally the larger body of water, the longer the rod up to a reasonable length.)

7 to 8 feet.

Area is lake fishing with little to no current or obstructions

Stream fishing technically would be high gradient mountain streams with faster current.

Re: High end trout specific rods

How high are you looking for....price range? An area trout rod or stream trout rod? Regards Not worried about price but would love to look at as many options as possible. What does "area trout" mean? It will be for rivers with high current, but at times also small reservoirs and ponds. Sm...

Re: Metanium worth the extra cost?

My last cleaning showed several teeth torn off my 13Met gear. Tuner thought it was because of braid. Reels are smooth but I know I have 2 gears to replace at next annual full cleaning. Replace them with brass, I changed my MGL and 13 to Curado K gears and they have both been super smooth since. My ...

Re: New drop shot hooks not finesse enough?

I tried quite a few and I also don't like those with swivels or stand out...

My go to is the roboworm rebarb.

Re: Line recommendations

I run 20lb and 30lb braid on almost all my rods except my swimbait rod.

The only thing I adjust are the leaders used, and thats only for presentation.

Like above has mentioned, the right drag settings is more important.
