Re: NRX 901 SJR Special Run

yeah i see all the pros use 4000 size reels. i tried it for a bit and could not get use to it because of the balance it gave the set ups threw me off might be ok on a 7'6 rod though. I noticed that also, but I've never tried a 4000 size reel for bass fishing. I will try a Vanquish 4000 if someone w...

Re: NRX 901 SJR Special Run

Here’s a webinar with Josh Douglas and Seth Feider. 35 minutes in and they talk about hair jigs. He uses an old 3000 size Daiwa which is now a 4000 size reel. https://youtu.be/8RKf4yJhb4g I have a 3000 certate and a 2500 stella and I can't tell the difference between them when casting. Just sayin.....

The larger spool diameter aids in casting distance. An extra five yards on the cast can be the difference of a fish or not.
Well then, better get the Shimano Stella SWB 30000

I want to put a 4000 size reel on it because of the larger spool diameter. This is going to be used to bomb hair jigs and other light lures.
I use 10lb braid so I don't think it will make a huge difference in a 2500 vs a 4000 size reel :-k

Re: Ned Rod

I would use a weedless presentation myself.

Take a look at the Owner Ultrahead Finesse Ball Head, if not I would recommend the NRX 852 :big grin:

I ordered one the other day. I was told to not expect it until the middle of December. What weight reel does this need to balance? I've heard that it's a little tip heavy like the other long NRX rods.
I'm putting a 2500 stella fj on mine.

The newer GLX models fit my hand better then the NRX rods, I love it.

Daiwa needs to take the last step and get rid of the remaining gold on the Certate.
The gold on the Certate is the titanium nitride spool lip, which is a good thing.
The gold also matches very well with a Megabass Destoryer rod :big grin:

It makes a difference when casting lighter baits.

I would run either hedgehog or ZPI and stay away from cheap bearings...

I hope a reel seat development of the Archangel ice rod will be in the future. Use scotch 33, cheap and excellent :big grin: That's what I've been using. I want to step away from taping on reels now. As also looking into using more bait casting for ice fishing. Why step away from taping? Just curio...

Re: G Loomis GLX vs Rainshadow ETERNITY / TESTAMENT

My Immortal is extremely nice. Its stupid-light, strong and has amazing sensitivity. If the newest flagship blank is nicer than the Immortal line, it should be even better than the GLX. I've never been impressed with Loomis rods myself. What you get for the price has always been lacking and their Q...
