20# Supernatural or 55# Samaria with Supernatural leader. while i prefer mono, if i had to chose a fc (if the rod was used for trigs/jigs also and i wasn't comfortable tying an albright) i'd pick invisx.

Re: Best rod size
for an all-round stick i like 7'MHF with a handle around 12". i feel like it gives me the best balance between casting distance and accurracy. i can still pitch with a 7' rod and assuming that the handle isn't too long i can walk a sammy pretty well. MH because whatever i'm throwing is going into th...

Re: Favorite and most dependable knot
double uni with 3 wraps (just make sure to check for overlay before cinching down as you would with an albright). palomar if its dark (it's just easier). i also use a rapala knot occasionally for some cranks and topwaters if i think they need a little more action, but then again i never throw cranks...

Re: Need some topwater help.
that ms black sammy should kill it. i have the best luck with sammies walking them on the edges of submerged vegetation and over deeper water where i know there is structure that holds fish. also i absolutely love a white popper. splash it in place as much as you can. the fish will tell you the cade...

Confidence is 1st and foremost then comes presentation, then color. [/quote]
well said. I killed them on watermelon/lemon laminate and green pumpkin/watermelon laminate last summer in all water conditions. smoke with purple flake is real good in partially stained water too.

Re: What is the Best Rod For Texas Rigs For $100 and under?
i have an mh abu veritas that i mainly use for topwater, but i've fished a texas rig on it several times. it is pretty sensitive. they have a reputation for not being the stoutest rods on the market and as such i get sketched out when i throw it into heavy cover, but it has held-up thus far. i like ...

Re: spinning reel help/info needed
i have a saros and love it. in hand it feels just as smooth as the fj, and is like $50 cheaper. the fj may handle better under load, i have no idea since i havent actually used one, but if so then the fj is amazing because the saros is great. i used to use 4000 sized reels to combat line twist, but ...

Re: Your Next Reel Purchase?
if i can find a good price on a 2nd generation stx, that will be next. at tax time i'm hoping try out the new premier (i love gen 2 premier). the icvb has me intrigued, though if i can find a tdz type r for close to the same price i'll have to call an audible.
