Re: NFC 705 HM for 1/2 oz jigs

Sounds good. Let me know. I want to do a dropshot/finesse build on my next go around. The IM DS6107 looks like it should fit the bill nicely.

Re: NFC 705 HM for 1/2 oz jigs

That's why I brought up the 708 IM and the 807 HM...they are not quite as stout. Glad to hear you like it. NFC's ratings are so weird to think they jump from the 705 HM, which to me is a medium powered rod, all the way to a stiff heavy is really odd. ](*,) I'll have to give the IM a shot in the fut...

Re: NFC 705 HM for 1/2 oz jigs

Been fishing this rod for a little while now. It throws a 3/8 oz jig with a trailer very well. That's probably as low as I would go though. Like I mentioned before, it has a stiff tip. It's not the best for skipping jigs, but it does well at sticking fish at the end of a long cast and in deeper wate...

Re: NFC 705 HM for 1/2 oz jigs

I ordered from Get Bit Outdoors. They didn't have too many NFC blanks in stock, I don't think. Both the 709HM and the 705HM were on backorder. My 709 HM took about two weeks from the time I ordered it to the time it was received. Overall, everything went smoothly, and i am PUMPED to fish this rod. I...

Re: NFC 705 HM for 1/2 oz jigs

Just got the 709 HM in the mail today. Definitely can tell right out of the package it will handle 1/2 oz jigs, probably 3/4 oz as well. It's hard to tell if it will be too much for 3/8 oz jigs. I'll have to wait until I get it built for that one. It will be close. First impressions are it's a stout...

Re: Torzite Guide Weights

Thanks Matt! I thought I read somewhere they were supposed to be lighter. Guess I was mistaken.

Re: Places Like Matagi for Components

If they are that easy to deal with then I guess that would be okay. I've seen a couple places that carry their stuff like Johnny's pond and Merrick's, but they seem to have a limited supply, and they say it takes 5-7 days to ship. So I assume they just order straight from Matagi either way.

Re: Fluid Bed Issue

Black powder paint just seems to flow much easier than other colors. Green pumpkin for me is the hardest to get a good flow. Try adding a price of printer paper orma coffee filter on top of your current filter.

Re: Gan Craft S Caper?

I think they would definitely be worth a try. I first found them probably a year ago and forgot all about them until just recently when I saw that TW carries them. They have a wider glide than a spook but not quite as wide as a punker and can be thrown on regular gear. I'll have to pick one up prett...

Places Like Matagi for Components

I was sifting through Matagi's catalog looking for components for my next build, and I have to say they have some very appealing components. Is there any other companies with a wide variety of unique components that is perhaps local or in English. I'm aware of Alps, and they have some nice stu...

Re: NFC 705 HM for 1/2 oz jigs

with the 709 so as long as it is true to its lure weight rating The MB 709-1 (HM and IM) compare very close to the Loomis MB 844 in power. Personally, I feel that is well off the listed high end power rating. I wish I had the 706 in my database. I have the 806. And, unfortunately, the jump between ...

Re: NFC 705 HM for 1/2 oz jigs

MH is way too arbitrary of a term. There is no industry standard for ratings like that and that is really just an arbitrary label. Which manufacturers MH? Which line of their rods? Etc. Of blanks I've measure that are of similar power to the MB 705 ... St. Croix 5C68MXF Loomis SJ842 Loomis BC802 Wo...

Gan Craft S Caper?

Anybody tried these? They have a sick looking wide glide to them. Is braid needed or will braid with a mono leader suffice to get it to walk?
