Re: Ajing/ Mebaru rods for micro nymphing.

What do these nymps weigh generally? Can't be that much if you are casting them with a 3 wt?

Re: Super Ultralight JDM Length

4' 6" as far as the 6 or 7 footers? Wow. That I've not experienced myself. My 4+ footers do cast significantly less but perhaps I need to build one for all out casting performance and see how that goes. (perfect train alignment in the guides/reel, and top end Torzites) 4 footers are way easier to ha...

Balance on length...

I also like 1 piece myself, and go as long as 8 ft 1 piece. Regarding length, I want to add a bit of balance to my comments. Longer UL rods do offer some substantive advantages, a primary one is to give more leverage on the fish as the line can be more vertical in its angle, and stress the fish fast...

Re: Super Ultralight JDM Length

This is why I said that of the 'budget' made in Japan JDM Ul rods, I believe that the Corto 6' 1" to be the sweet spot for 'bang for the buck'. If I did not build my rods, I would have one of those for my regular rotation.

Re: Super Ultralight JDM Length

Agree. Good posts all. The lighter the lure, the less rod length makes a difference as guide drag, air friction etc all now accounts for a greater percentage of casting distance losses. I recently tried a 5' 6" that blew my mind as it cast within a foot of a 6' 10" rod that has really good casting d...

Re: Looking for bfs blank or rod LXF 2 piece

Are you OK with 4' on the tip end, and 3' on the handle end? Uneven blank halfs.

Value & Source for 16 Aldebaran BFS-XG Spool?

I thought I asked this on TT but simply can't find where I did. Perhaps I was just THINKING about posting a while back. How do i figure out what is the value of the 16 Aldebaran BFS/BFS-XG spool as it comes from the factory? Where can I order additional and does new spools come with the bearing inst...

Re: Tict ice cube power version ?

I don't have the rod you are asking about but I do have the Drift which is significantly lower power. I would say the Drift is a great 1/64 and 1/32 rod. Given that the power version you are looking at is significantly more power, it may be too much power for the UL feel though I think just about an...

Uncharted Foreign Waters - what lures?

I travel a fair bit with my wife teaching overseas. Going on a trip where there will be rivers and ponds near where we are serving. I hope to bring two UL rods and spinning reels. Question - assuming that you only know that there will be bodies of waters where you are, but have no clue what type of ...

Re: Reflection - JDM UL Rod Ratings & Going X- or S-UL.

Allsorst, I hold you in high regards as you have much experience with JDM rods - and I think you also have helped Alphahawk with rod comments in the past. Anyways, I think Fuji claims that more guides actually makes both the rod and the line less likely to break under load. Not sure where i read tha...

Re: recommend a budget bfs ajing rod

U are talking about backbone - and that's not necessarily an ajing issue. You can have trout rods that has strong backbone. What lbs test are you using?
