Re: Daiwa GEKKABIJIN SW LIGHT JIGHEAD

Thanks. Yes, the 8 is a lot larger than the standard Trout Magnet jigheads - especially the hook and I always wondered if trout with good eyesight balk at a large hook. I know that more aggressive fish such as crappies do not seem to care.

Thanks for your comment.

Re: Daiwa GEKKABIJIN SW LIGHT JIGHEAD

Quick question Alphahawk & TMax37, I like the 0.5 gram heads for the troutmagnets. What size hooks do you use? The size 10 and 8 both fit and I am wondering if you found one preferable over the other, and why? Also, the size 10 is really very fine wire. I wonder if I will straighten it using anythin...

Re: Mini jig rod for trout.

Great question. It depends on the type of action, power, and line test you prefer. I am presuming that you will primarily use 2 lbs test? Regarding power, some like a very soft 'flippy' rod/tip, believe it is more sensitive and gives a proper jigging action with little effort. Others like a stiffer ...

Thanks.

HooHoorjoo, so you don't use UL fluoro for BFS or do you?

Thanks.

1st time. BFS Aldebaran: Quick braid vs fluro question

My schedule is limiting so it took a while but I finally got my16 Aldebaran BFS w. Avail spool set up and test casted today. First time casting with a baitcaster. I was not actually fishing but can say that the feeling of the casting rhythm just feels a lot nicer than the spinning reel. Cast, line i...

Re: Ester mono.

Alphahawk, This is not in ANY WAY a criticism at all but I notice that this ester line seem to be very resistant to line twist? I see that you keep reeling the handle no matter if the drag is still peeling - and hours after hours of this, your line seem to be fine. I tend to be very conservative and...

Re: Newbie Shimarno 16 Aldebaran BFS - Quick Questions

Thanks Antonv. I just installed the Avail spool. Without line, the stock freespools around 7.5 to 8.0 seconds. With the Avail, I am only getting 1.8 seconds. It is an even gradual stop but it stops very fast. All settings at minimum and done correctly. Does this sound right to you or do you think th...

Re: Ester mono.

So does UL braid not work for BFS and one should use Flouoro or Mono instead? I'm thinking of lines like the 8 lbs Gliss which is just about the thinnest line available. Thanks.

Newbie Shimarno 16 Aldebaran BFS - Quick Questions

I'm basically a total Newbie to baitcasting reels. Have had my Aldebaran Aldebaran 16 BFS for a year along with an Avail 16ALD15R spool and finally getting around to taking it out of the box and trying to install the spool etc. (I also have the XG model with 8.0 ratio but decided to stay with this 6...

Re: Prescription Sunglasses?

I see. So it looks green from the outside but looking through it, it is bronze? If so, perfect because bronze is my fav color for acuity/contrast/fog overall. Yellow is better for fog I think but Bronze is the best all rounder. Now I just have to find an optometrist that gives discounts on these.......

Re: Prescription Sunglasses?

Thanks. I do sight fishing on freshwater and want to cut through lakes and streams too.

Does the green mirror actually give a GREEN TINT as you look out, or does it actually have a different tint looking through it?

Thanks.

I have Costa 580G with progressive lenses. I went through my eye doctor and it took about 3 weeks to receive from Costa after the order was put in. They are fantastic but very expensive.
May I ask what you paid for progressives? And do you get the option of different tints?

Thanks.

Re: Prescription Sunglasses?

I have costa and wiley x prescription glasses I like both. I prefer the wileys as I like having the foam inserts that block the side light but I think the costas work better. I get a new pair every two years as thats what my insurance allows. I dont need prescription lenss but asked my eye doctor t...
