Re: **Say it ain't so**
Read the article on SDfish before watching the video . The video only shows 1% of the story. Mike Long is not just snagging bass. He committed fraud by illegally winning over $150k in tournament winnings. He committed attempted murder on multiple people by loosening their lug nuts. He trespassed mul...

Re: Which is your favorite rod company?
Shimano/G.Loomis and St. Croix
If I was a deca-millionaire or more, I'd rock JDM rods probably though.

Re: Is Shimano Playing us?
There is no standard for rating line diameter to a given # rating even within the US, let alone other countries. Thus, the line capacity numbers specified by reel manufacturers is just an guesstimate. When you cook a dish, you usually salt it to taste. Do the same thing when spooling line on your re...

Re: Yamamoto Senko laminated series
Nope, there is no difference in durability. QC is harder with laminates. The colors can bleed weird. Maybe you got a bad batch that didn't cool/set properly.

Re: Steez AGS rod
FWIW, Seth Fieder recently won a bass elite series event catching 76 lbs of smallmouth in 3 days using the 7ml ags spinning rod. Drop shot using 1/2 oz drop shot weight, which is impressive for a ml action rod Came here to say this. He was using a Daiwa Exist 3012 as well. I wonder if he was using ...

Re: Fish both left and right handed baitcasters?
Right hand is the only option with some reels. That is why I stick with right handed reels.
Otherwise I would have both, especially for muskie.
Learning to cast with your offhand is a challenging but rewarding task. It opens up many possibilities with casts and also is good for your brain.

Regarding the new Tournament reels & rods with the composite cork knobs & reel seat:
They're made by the same company that makes 13 Fishing / No. 8 Tackle Co.

Re: For people who find Dobyns Rods Mediocre
13 Fishing JDM (Megabass, evergreen, etc) NRX High end Daiwa & Shimano Those are the only rods I can think of that can meet or exceed what a Dobyns will give you. 13 Fishing is in the process of stealing the glory of having the most balanced rod, a feat that Dobyns is known for above other brands.

Re: New fad? Carbon tape
Good points so far, I modified original post to include some of them. My theory behind decreasing sensitivity is because it would seem a solid piece of graphite is a much better transmitter of vibrations than that same piece of graphite with woven carbon sheets. Any time you add something to a rod, ...

New fad? Carbon tape
Why did Shimano, Abu Garcia, and others re-launch their most popular freshwater rods with spiral wrapped carbon tape? They chose to do this the exact same year, I don't get it. Did the price of carbon go down or? Please help me come up with pros and cons of spiral wrapping a rod in carbon tape: Pros...

Re: How many calais do you own?
Just one for now, the original CL-200. Looking to get an Antares HG. The weight is correct for longer rods. I find a 50 sized shimano reel works perfect on 6'6" while the heavier Calais/Antares fits longer rods perfectly. It is the best low profile reel ever designed. They don't loosen up after...

Re: Best Shimano pitching reel
For lures under 1/2 oz, the 50 platform is king. Metanium XG, core 50mg7, 50e.
For heavier lures above 1/2oz, antares hg.
