Re: Fluorocarbon increases depth???

I have fished the 10xd with braid, mono, and fluorocarbon. I am not an engineer, physics professor, or professional fisherman. I am just a recreational fisherman without a lot of extra funds for 12 dollar crankbaits. I like braid on the 10 XD. You do not lose much depth(if any) and have a lot better...

Re: Casiting rod: detachable handle akin to 2 piece JDM rods

I just made my favorite George Cochran pistol grip rod a triggerstick by stripping the pistol grip and inserting a piece of an old blank from a broken rod within the blank at the desired length. I epoxied a new cork handle up to the real seat and was done. I am satisfied with the result and now have...

Re: Spro BBZ-1 Line...???

I agree with you on getting the floater first. You can make it a slow sinker if you have to. However, if you are fishing from the bank making long casts parallel to the bank with a slow retrieve at dawn or dusk is going to be a high percentage technique for you to develop confidence. I would also re...

Too many Plastics Weigh You Down

Does any one else feel that it is very easy to get carried away with having too many plastic baits and that having too many actually hinders your ability to stay organized and just fish?

Re: Manns Baby 1- at night?

I have a large collection of Baby 1-. When I lived in the deep South, I loved them in shallow heavily stained water. They worked great. I like the waker elite version even better. I wish I could find more of them in different sizes.

Re: What color Senko should I use?

I was paired with Gary Yamamoto as a non boater last year. He only used one color. Green pumpkin over watermelon. He was in the money and a class act.

Magnum Spoons

Apparently the pros are going to be marketing a spoon for fishing ledges that is nearly 10 inches long and weighs 3 to 4 ounces. It is still in the prototype stage. I bet they are going to cost about the same as a 10XD. I love fishing all types of spoons, and I would like to get some opinions from e...

Fishermans Factory Outlet(Pure fishing's outlet site) has the yellow line that you speak highly of. I bought some and it is very smooth, quiet, and manageable.

Re: high vis line for pitching?

I have watched a touring pro use a 20 to 30 ft fluorocarbon leader with light braid on spinning tackle. He just wound the knot up on the spool like it was not even there. One advantage to this is when a big fish makes a run right at the boat there is only one knot to worry about.

Re: Floro made a believer out me!

I am a dedicated line watcher so I like a little color in my line to be able to see it in different conditions depending on sun position, shade, and glare. I have noticed that fish in the clear water of East Tennessee can be line shy, even when using fluorocarbon. Stren has a clear blue floro and I ...

15 or 20 lb Big Game for durability, knot strength, and keeping the bait up in the water column. Mean Green Trilene 17(XT) gets an honorable mention.

Everyone should own at least one good quality fiberglass rod as a daily reminder that graphite is better for most bassfishing applications. :D

Re: Problems hooking up on Spook Baits (MB Giant Dog-X)

As bass fisherman we all love are topwater baits. I live in East Tennessee and throw them a lot. The water is clear and the fish are pretty spooky due to relatively clear water and a lot of fishing pressure. I still throw 5 inch topwater baits regularly, but once you have biting fish located and you...
