Any word of a new Chronarch G/premium inshore aimed Shimano baitcaster?

The Chronarch G has been my favorite baitcaster Shimano has ever released since it came out for one simple reason. It's the first baitcasting reel I've failed to destroy in saltwater after many, many hundreds of hours. Mine is still going strong, but that doesn't mean it isn't showing its age as the...

Re: 22 Stella Question - My experience disappointing so far

In all honesty I think you are just used to the lightness/lack of resistance of the Vanquish/Exsence. If you purchased USDM I'd strongly consider just returning the Stella. If you purchased JDM, I'd strongly consider taking a small loss and selling it. Either way, I think you'll be happier if you ju...

Re: Ned Rod choices - P5 / NRX+ / AGS

Only rod I have experience with is the NRX+ 90% of my Ned fishing is 1/10oz with typical TRD sized bait. The other 10% is 1/15oz if for whatever reason I want that slower sink. I don't believe in the 1/6 or 1/5 and will just go with a 1/8 shakeyhead or 3/16 trig on a different rod at that point. For...

Re: Surf fishing (spinning) rods for jerkbait halibut in Socal area?

I think you may have hit a home run here. Looks like the exact specs I'm looking for. I won't go to prison for putting an Exsence on a Daiwa rod, right? I have a Stella on mine and so far remain a free man :) But yeah I've owned or tried many JDM "suzuki" rods in that rough price range - Dialuna/Lu...

Re: Split ring replacement for lucky craft 110 flash minnow for salt water use?

Forgot I posted a similar thread about snaps/split rings before going on a redfishing trip late last summer in another subforum here till just now and wish I had remembered sooner. Ended up buying hyperwire size 2 and ultra size 3. The hyperwire size 2s will definitely work sizewise and probably str...

Re: Surf fishing (spinning) rods for jerkbait halibut in Socal area?

If you can find one a Ballistick 86M TZ/NANO would be a great option and fall into your price range. Here is a youtube video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z96wmT4TJqM There are a variety of similar JDM rods, as they make big use of rods like this for shore saltwater fishing. This rod looks great...

Surf fishing (spinning) rods for jerkbait halibut in Socal area?

Looking for a 2 piece rod, preferably 9' to throw primarily a LC 110 on 20lb braid to 12-14lb fluoro. Been using a 9' too floppy Fenwick steelhead rod for a while. Tried to upgrade to a 9' Phenix trifecta lite as it came highly recommended but they sent me a presumably defective one that was nearly ...

Re: Your Path to the Dark Side ...

Price wise, NRX 893c and Calais DC in 2010. I was 24-25 and doing exceptionally well financially. My dad bought all our fishing stuff and we fished Fenwick Techna AV rods with Chronarch 100A and 100SF reels. It was already great stuff but I wanted to gift us a pair of what the internet seemed to thi...

Split ring replacement for lucky craft 110 flash minnow for salt water use?

Saltwater has finally beaten the split rings to death on a couple of my baits after all these years so I'm just gonna replace them on all my baits while I'm at it. The target is usually halibut and you never know when a 30+ inch model will show up. Also planning to put them to work for calicos this ...

What is THE crankbait reel in Shimano's lineup to you

Haven't fished a crankbait regularly in about 20 years. The Valkyrie 71MH has sorta solidified itself on my radar as a rod I'm pretty interested as an all around cranking rod for largemouth, spotties and light calico bass duties. Reel wise, my in use arsenal is Metaniums and a single Chronarch G. I'...

Re: Anyone own an NRX+ 803c and 854c? Curious how they fish certain stuff

Ended up gambling on the 854c, won't have a chance to take it out for a week probably. Hopefully the -4 inches from what I'm used to will work for me. My first time buying a new NRX that I wasn't certain I'd love it but I hit a home run with the 903c and the Ned rod so hopefully this one works out t...

Re: Braid to Leader - what's your knot of choice?

RP knot which afaik is just the Alberto. 5 up and down. In my personal fishing using from 3 to 80lb braid and from 2 to 30lb fluoro and mono, this knot covers it all. Fast and easy to tie in windy conditions, casts through anything but JDM UL rod super duper micro guides easily. My knot has never fa...

Re: Anyone own an NRX+ 803c and 854c? Curious how they fish certain stuff

What are the other rods you have on deck? To me the 853 is the ideal fluke rod, but if you give up the 4 power rod do you have any other heavy power rods? Need to know what else you have. No wonder my screen name is oops. Thought for sure I mentioned that lol On deck I always have nrx 842c, 893c, 8...

Anyone own an NRX+ 803c and 854c? Curious how they fish certain stuff

I'll keep it simple and say that first and foremost this purchase is with the idea of having a great fluke rod, but that this very much needs to be a multi purpose rod for me because I'm already at 5 rods on deck when I take a boat out and that's where I want to stay. You'll have to pry my 893c from...

Re: Still in search of the one UL spinning rod

Got some time in with the Bellezza Prototype today. Target species was big bluegill using a .8g jighead and 1.5 inch soft plastic but numerous 14inch+ bass came along, putting me to the test alongside some monster gills. Had an absolute heart breaker at the end losing a 4+lb bass. I strongly dislike...
