Re: Anyone have experience with the 13 Omen Black travel rods?

Thanks for the suggestions. Sounds like the 13 rod definitely isn't what I'm looking for. Daiwa Ardito and St Croix Triumph were at the top of my list after a bit more research. Ended up snagging the MH Ardito for $82 on some site that had like 30% off on it already plus another 10% with a Father's ...

Anyone have experience with the 13 Omen Black travel rods?

Buying a rod to leave in my car to let a friend use if they want to meet up with me. I'm personally not a fan of spinning gear, but I could see myself actually bringing it on vacation just in case I see some fishy looking water. My spinning arsenal currently consists of one Stradic 2500 FJ, some 13 ...

Re: Where are the shimanos?

There is no piece of fishing equipment on the market that I find more aesthetically pleasing than the current line of Conquests. I can't believe I don't own a 100HG.

Re: Shimano Loomis Conquest rods

I've all but retired from fresh water (and the gear I have is more than sufficient for anything and everything I'd ever want to do in freshwater anyway) over the past few years and my limited fishing time has been pushed solely to saltwater. Now 100% shorebound since I've sold both my boats and whil...

Re: Chronarch 150G vs Met MGL and Chronarch 150G in saltwater...

Had a chance to go out for a little bit today and my fears already came true. Got down to the water, pushed the clutch down...and nothing happened. Put the reel back in gear, pushed the clutch back down and pulled some line out only to hear a not so good grinding noise. I slammed out a few casts any...

Chronarch 150G vs Met MGL and Chronarch 150G in saltwater...

Anyone have experience with both of these reels side by side and have a strong opinion on the performance of one vs the other? Also, how are your Chronarch 150G holding up in saltwater? I bought my Met MGL the moment they were available in Japan and it's the best reel I've ever used. By far. Unfortu...

Re: Gloomis rod above NRX????!!!!!

I'll wait for other people to shell out the cash and give their thoughts on the rods first, but I'd be surprised if I don't get the 903C MBR as it is exactly what I have wanted out of a rod for years, at least on paper. I love my NRX893 and 842C but I have dearly wanted the extra length and power th...

Re: NRX refresh ?

Still waiting patiently for a 903c or maybe 902c. I'd love it if there was a refresh that resulted in the rods being more balanced but I could live without it. I'll be a bit bummed out if they introduce a new "better" line at a higher pricepoint just because I don't see myself being able t...

Re: Help deciding MGL, Zillion SV TW, OG Steez

MGL as in Metanium MGL presumably? I have no experience with the others but own the Met. It has excellent casting distance which is to be expected, but what really makes the reel shine for me is how the braking system really lets you get dialed in in such a way that you can get absolute maximum dist...

Re: Single hook size for LC 110?

I haven't changed them on a 110 but I have on rapalas. I replaced size 4 hooks with the suggested size 1 hook from owner and I found that the replacement hook appeared to be way to small for my calibrated eyeball. I was more concerned about the weight difference and hydrodynamics affecting my balsa...

Single hook size for LC 110?

Looking to try single hooks on my LC 110s for a while, had too many years of feeling guilty for small fish tearing up their mouths and angry saltwater fish trying to tear me up. The 110 uses size 6 trebles and Tackle Warehouse's smallest size for the Owner single hooks with the turned eye is size 6,...

Re: Fat Ika rigging

I can't imagine using anything but Owner 4/0 wide gap plus with the Fat Ika. 4/0 is simply the perfect size for the Fat Ika. 3/0 and you will have a poor hook up ratio, and 5/0 is too long for the bait. I have tried many hooks over the years and will never again use a hook other than Owner wide gap ...

Re: deep cranking reel

I'd use a Calais 100A. There have been a few sold for insanely low prices on eBay in the recent past. It is the only reel I own that I don't think could be easily replaced in my arsenal. For me, it feels truly perfect for working both lighter and heavier baits at a slow/comfortable pace in addition ...

Re: Jig trailer with floating "claws"?

I'd check out the Z-Man stuff, I think there are craws and creatures in their lineup. I've fished the 3" swimbait and 4" curl tail texas rigged and on weighted swimbait hooks and both sit really nicely head down tail up on the bottom. Between the buoyancy and crazy durability, they ought t...
