Re: MGL

i noticed a huge difference between the 13 Metanium (which was an excellent reel) and the 2020 Metanium. Like, not even close in terms of casting performance. I have an SLX MGL, Bantam, and the new Metanium. Doesn't seem to be as big of a jump in casting performance between the MGL spools, though t...

Re: Certate LT weak bail issue?

The only thing I've seen with mine is that the bail won't open properly in one certain position. It's perfect 99% of the way around, but that one location it won't engage. It's really weird. Aside from that, it works flawlessly and closes without fail.

Re: Reel waterproofing & you.

I dont mind a sealed drag, but anything else is marketing hype imho. Making a reel with superior corrosion-resistant materials is the best avenue, not trying to waterproof a reel. Sure, tight tolerances are always a good idea, but seals are just another drag/friction point to make the reel feel slo...

Re: New kistler graphite series

Appears to say "crafted in USA." Those looser terms always leave room for different interpretations. Makes me wonder if it's an overseas blank that's assembled in TX, or if they actually build it up from scratch here in the states.

Re: ALX ENOX rods

They do NOT use T1100G, they use T1100T. The ENOX blanks are very, very nice. They are by far the best made by ALX. I haven't fished the Strike yet, but it is intriguing. I have fished the LSB and BMJ and both are versatile, well made rods. What's the difference between the T and the G? I'm curious...

Ugly half red thing. Maybe the USDM will be less offensive looking. I rather like the satin black paint, black level wind insert, frame milling, red accents and ghosted vector logo of the USDM model.
Agreed. Though it would look good on a Cumara.

Re: ALX ENOX rods

I have the Decoy, though I haven't used it a ton. Been a fan of ALX a while and had the Zolo Deputy and Dragger custom built by Alex pretty early on, like 4-5 years ago, and they're very good rods. The Enox is a different animal, in my limited experience. The Toray T1100G material is top of the line...

Re: Tatula's got me confused...

The Elite Long Cast version will bomb a frog and pitches very well. The spool is light and starts up easily.

Re: Kistlers warranty and the curse of 2020

I had heard when they moved production overseas that things went downhill, my klxs are from 2013 because that's when I graduated from grad school and I bought them as a graduation present to myself. I think they had just started production on the klx because on my first order they sent the wrong ro...

Re: Which one?

Is it true the JDM Metanium 20 has a 70 size spool? Anyone? I ordered 2 from Japan Scroll down this page. All signs point to the US and JDM versions having the same spool (70 or otherwise) http://www.tackletour.net/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=84248&p=678555#p678555 Yeah I seen that, some say it is shallow...

Re: T3 1016 spool in a Ryoga

That used to be the spool to own if you had an OG Steez because it was very tame, but still offered great performance. If you have to run anywhere near max brake, something is off. Sounds like it worked out well for the LIN though.

Metanium 20 or Bantam MGL?
I love my Bantam, but aside from the JDM PG model, I can't find one reason to choose it over the Metanium. The Metanium is essentially the same reel with a better spool and lighter package.
