Thanks for the info...
Talked to Alex today for a good bit...The Speed Fury was designed on a spin blank for just what I'm looking for...but also for Redfish and Sea Trout on the saltwater flats with lighter plastics... I will have one ready for me in less than a week...I'll post a report here...

Casting rod for long casts light weights?
I fish Smallies on Lake Superior and Green Bay...These are big strong prespawn fish in crystal clear shallow water. They are holding on lots of wood and buckweed... susceptible to long casts with unweighted 4" finesse worms and light 3-3.5" swimbaits. I can hook them with a 7 1/2' spin rod but have ...

Re: Tatula Signature Series
I accidentally played around with Seth Feiders new Tatulas at the show before his seminar and I am hopelessly addicted  Fishermen can be that way I guess... But I am a upper Midwest, great lakes Smallie guy and a finesse "fast action" style guy...I guess Daiwa will start shipping these s...

Re: Tatula Signature Series
Seth Feider gave a seminar last weekend at the Illinois Fishing show... The Platinum silver Tatula XFast Signature rods, spinning and casting, had very soft tip actions...He could bend the tips parallel to the blank...I was impressed. My kind of actions for finesse-med techniques...but I am mainly o...

Re: Dobyns HP 743C impressions
I have the new 742c hp and love it. Are you finding a difference between the 702c hp vs the 742c hp aside from 4 inches? Definitely! The 702C Finesse is more parabolic (softer upper section) than the HP742 ... I do a lot of 4.5-6" Roboworms during spring spawn on Wheeler and Pickwick reservoirs...w...

Re: New Dobyns Champion 744C
It is correctly named the XP 744C...I liked the previous Champion 744C but wished it was a tad faster blank...well boys, I just talked to Dobyns and ordered one! Hope to post a report in a week or so!

Dobyns HP 743C impressions
I have been on the water with my new HPs a few times now and thought I'd pass along some impressions; The HP743 has become my go to jig/worm rod for all but the heavy cover conditions here in the northern Midwest. I've thrown weights from 1/4 to 1/2 oz with it...usually with the addition of a 3-4" c...

Re: Dobyns light jig, finesse plastics rod
If it were being used more for the 3/8 jig + trailer, I think the 743c hp is preferable... if its being used more for the tubes and shakey heads, then I'd go 742c hp. The 742c is perfect for finesse 1/4 + trailer jigs, but 3/8 is about where I would pick up the 743. I am hearing that the new HP 742...
