Re: Winding Check / Carbon Tube help
After a few months of searching every available source, I was able to put together something close. I actually like how it came out, a little better than the example rod I posted for reference. I used aluminum winding checks designed for a SKS seat, used my Alps wrapper as a makeshift lathe, carved ...

Re: Daiwa Pixy / Pixilla Drag Star Options
I used the drive shaft that came with the clicking star drag kit. All I had to get separate was the drag nut thing from a newer Steez. I’m not sure it this will work with an Alphas platform

Re: Daiwa Z2020SHL Issues
Sorry for the late reply. Life has been a little chaotic lately. I ordered all new bearings minus the spool and side plate, and finally got to crack open the reel again. Doing so, I found 2 more rusty bearings. With the new bearings in, I got to test the reel last night after work and…. It casts and...

Re: Daiwa Z2020SHL Issues
Sorry for taking so long. I was able to get the reel taken apart this morning and check on all the things you guys have told me to look at. The route of all this drama ended up being the pinion support bearing(the one under the CC knob). Thank you doomtrprz71 for sharing! The bearing was completely ...

Re: Daiwa Z2020SHL Issues
Haven’t gotten to take it back apart yet. I did read somewhere that the little plastic blocks in the conductor can get dirty and make the reel a little loud. Who knows. I’m also wondering if the anti-reverse bearing is the root cause of the issues. The reel has a tight spot on the retrieve about eve...

Re: Daiwa Z2020SHL Issues
Sounds like that Z has been fished hard and just put away. Have you removed the backup anti-reverse dog leg? It sounds like you may have a burr on the main or pinion, have you checked the gears closely? The clicking on the cast is weird, possibly a bad bearing or slightly bent spool edge? And yes, ...

Daiwa Z2020SHL Issues
Recent picked up a used Z2020. The back story I got was that it would occasionally engage while casting, and sometimes would let out line whole the reel is just sitting, not being used. Line was flouro carbon, so I can’t say it’s just slippage like you get with braided line without a backing. I took...

Re: Daiwa Pixy / Pixilla Drag Star Options
The Gomexus star drag works and looks pretty good on this. I had to order a square nut and a spring from Daiwa, from a Steez SVTW1016, and everything lines up.

Re: Daiwa Pixilla???
I think that’s the issue I’m having. I didn’t add a washer on the inside of the reel. Thank you!

Daiwa Pixilla???
Anyone have a Daiwa Pixilla with a clicking drag star mod that can help me out. I’m trying to assemble mine, by memory from 12 years ago, and the issue I’m having is the handle will not turn once the drag is tightened. Can someone share with me the washer stack up of the handle, from the anti-revers...

Steez Follow up
Follow up from my post earlier. With my reel (pictured) being fairly old now, are any spools from newer Steez’s or similar reels interchangeable?

Daiwa Steez 100 SHL Option
Are there any BFS spools made for older Steez reels? I have a Steez 100 SHL from about 10 years ago that is just sitting in a box.

Winding Check / Carbon Tube help
I’m about to start a BFS build. I’m looking to do something similar to this, with a carbon tube between the 2 pieces of a Fuji SKS seat. Can anyone help me with sourcing these? All the normal sites don’t seem to have the winding checks that are the same diameter (OD) of a carbon tube that’s available.
