Re: Braided Samurai vs Power Pro SS8 vs Sufix 832
most line is rated by its breaking strength with a fishing knot, and not the line's actual tensile strength, knotless breaking strength. the samurai is obviously rated by its tensile strength.

Re: Rod for heavy pads
I prefer a shorter rod in pads for the leverage and 30# braid as it cuts through the pads better. my new favorite rod when chunking into heavy pads is the Powell Max frog rod. it is 7' 3" and i find it much easier to pull fish through the pads with it than the 7.5' rods i have used in the past.

Re: Curado 100d or 50e
I have 6 100's and four 50's. to me the 50 e casts weightless worms further and easier, but i prefer the feel of the 100d in my hands. I fish all of my texas rigs, wacky rigs, and jerk baits on these reels and they excel regardless of lure weight. I have never felt a lack of power with them. using b...

Re: What is the Best Rod For Texas Rigs For $100 and under?
I would stick with a 6' 6" to 7' medium heavy rod with a fast or extra fast action. I have found medium action rods to bee too soft to get the hook through a fluke or texas rigged soft plastic on long casts or in lots of grass. If you have an academy near by they have some blue H2O Xpress rods are g...

Re: Seaguar Senshi
i have used the 12 and 15# a little last year. the 12 is too thin for what i always use 12 for. i had breakoffs, and had to retie more. solved that my moving to 15#. This is fine with me because i was using suffix elite 12# which is of a larger diameter, 0.014", than the 15# senshi, claims 0.012" di...

Re: What knot?
blood knot when linking mono to mono or mono to fluro. I use the albright with about 10-12 wraps when linking braid to my mono backing. Both of these knots are very low profile, pass through guides easily, and are very strong. I redfish with my bass gear and have had them take me well into my backi...

Re: What is your go to braid?
i try different line every year, and i always go back to Power Pro as my braid of choice. Yes it fades but a permanent marker takes care of the problem really quickly. Likes: doesn't swell when wet, last for years, small diameter, super abrasion resistance, casts a mile, not too limp like so many ot...

Re: Powell Max Square Bill
i have one and will probably buy another pretty soon. I have a full year and a half using this rod. It is fantastic! i put a chronarch 100b on it and find it balances well. As said the the TT review it is a great spinnerbait rod as well as a squarebill rod. I have used it a lot for texas rigged plas...

Re: MH all purpose rod, Just 1, 150 or less
I would pick the Powell you listed or the Max Square Bill rod. I have the Square Bill and have used it for everything you mentioned. It is a spectacular do it all rod. It is graphite and quite sensitive. It is not a typical crank bait rod.

Re: best rod for best value?
i am all about the big V and for me the All Star ASR Series and BPS Carbonlites are tops in the $100 max spot. I have both they are great. All Stars are hard to find right know. Ebay and academy are the only places that have them. cabela's rep said they will be carrying them again. might be a while ...

ogrich31 took the words right out of my mouth. X2 everything he said, but i must add that the only time i have gotten away with a regular palomar on braid was while using 50# plus braid.

Re: should I try seaguar or sunline?
Hey everyone im gonna give fluoro a shot this year. Im still unsure about flouro so I dont want to spend a ton of money. Would seagaur red label or sunline super fluorocarbon be better? OR trilene, even though i am not crazy about trilene. Which one would have less breakoffs, and better casting. An...

Re: sunline super fluorocarbon??
Ahhhh, this is all good to hear. I picked up a spool of 20# and 16# yesterday. I got 16# the instead of 14# because it was no larger in diameter than a lot of 12# to 14# lines of various other brands' fluoro and mono. I like 14# or 15# for general purpose fishing where the cover isn't too bad. I wil...
