Re: Do You Use Spinning Reels?

I really wonder if newer spinning reels are better than my 20yrs old Daiwa spinning reel. They are - Certate, Exist, TP, Stella - pick your poison. Get yourself some YGK x8 Upgrade in 22lb and don't look back. This 100%. Do yourself a favor and ditch the 40lb braid...awful heavy and will loose dist...

Re: Zillion TW HD ‘22

I've caught my first dozen frog fish on this reel and it's been everything I hoped for in a frogging reel. Casts further than any of my previous reels, feels heavy duty without having too much bulk, and the handle is great for pulling them out of the thick stuff - I got the 8:1 which makes it a bit...

Thanks man. I contacted them and got a response back in pretty fast order. I'll most likely give this a go.

Re: Ygk G-soul Upgrade vs Ss112

It appears to me that the YGK G-Soul Upgrade X-8 in the 14# is experiencing some wear in a similar fashion as Fireline. I don't fish that often so most of the line rub is either from the line guides and reel spool or just floating debris in the water. It worked wonderful during the spring time for ...

Re: Daiwa Lexa TWS 300 handle options

Thanks. I'd buy one if I could find available.
I see some offerings on some Japanese sites (SLP Works, RCSB, etc.), but not sure what you're getting for that sort of price.

Re: Sunline Defier D Braid

Disclaimer: D-braid was designed “exclusively for spinning reel” and as such that’s entirely how I’ve used it. Been fishing it quite a bit in the 0.5, 0.6, and 1.2 sizes (7, 9, and 15# JDM rated). Love the line and the way it fishes but the pink color does fade very fast. If you’re hung up on maint...

World Shaula?

I'm not as aware of all the different rod options out there as many on these forums, and have been looking for something nice for both spinning and casting that might break down for easier transport. I'm always interested in the higher end stuff, especially that with which I can use for both my fres...

Daiwa Lexa TWS 300 handle options

Hope I'm posting in the right forum...if not...my apologies. I tried checking the Daiwa support forum, but last posts seem to rather old. I'm interested in swapping out the default power handle on this reel with a nice double paddle. This guy typically gets mounted on a 10.5 custom Century rod where...

Re: 21 Luvias Airity vs 18 Exist

That is one beautiful SM! Rod and reel aren't bad on the eyes either!
My apologies, as I'm sure it was mentioned, but what size reel and what make/model rod?
...Incredible fish man!

Re: Shimano conquest Dc 100

No worries. If you’re interested; the 21 Antares DC is definitely a better caster, with smoother and stronger gears, stronger drag… Mind blowing. You can cast it in a typhoon and I swear the DC control is sooo good, you barely have any feathering in your spool. Only downside >>> Just no clicking dr...

Re: An Understated Victory for St. Croix Rods

Was it really 40lb Upgrade that you spooled up on that 3000, or was that a misprint? I know this line’s diameter is smaller than most, but I’d imagine 40lb to be a little on the heavy side for that setup.

Re: YGK X-Braid Upgrade; Varivas Avani…

Thanks again Doc.
I noticed the same when comparing 1.0 to 1.5.

At very casual observation, it would seem the YGK is a bit more rounder than the Varivas Avani…the former almost resembling lime green mono.

Re: YGK X-Braid Upgrade; Varivas Avani…

Thanks Doc. As soon as Jun get's more 300m spools of 30 and 40 YGK X-Braid Upgrade back in stock, I'm going to try 40 on my new Lexa TW 300 that I use on a 10.5' Century 1265 to throw 1.5 - 2oz Sting Silvers. I'm hoping this will work out well. I've been interested in the same Varivas line you recen...

Re: Favorite braid for spinning reels

I have not seen YGK G-Soul in anything greater than 200 meters, both domestically and in Japan. I have been using the line for three years and and exclusively for the past two years in 16#, 30#, 40#, 45# and 50# for both spinning and baitcasters with primarily a fluoro leader and in some instances ...
