Re: DC (Antares, Calcutta, spool tension, distance, etc.)

Could you share those Japanese videos? In order for me to get the best distance on my 2016 Antares DC, I do tight the spool tension to the point where I can go lower on brakes at X Mode. You gotta use X Mode to reach the maximum. Best casts I had - have been at X Mode, brakes set at 4, and spool te...

DC (Antares, Calcutta, spool tension, distance, etc.)

I've owned several of these over the years. Two calais DC's and tried a 2016 Antares DC. The former were rockets. The latter disappointed me in general casting, specifically distance...so I sold and decided to look elsewhere for a good distance reel. I mainly fish inshore flats for very spooky fish,...

Re: 2019 Daiwa Morethan PE 1000 TW

Does the Morethan PE TW and the Steez A both detach exactly the same way??? I know the Steez A and Steez SV TW are slightly different... Yeah same way. I almost tried to switch sideplates and take a pic but i didn’t wanna mess up my zpi inductors in case something was different. Thank you for the t...

Re: 2019 Daiwa Morethan PE 1000 TW

I'm interested, as I've recently started using a new coastal for all my inshore, and this is my first daiwa. I have a few questions after reading all the posts in this thread... 1. I believe I read 200 meters of PE 1.5. Am I safe in assuming that this would be 200 meters of a typical 35lb braid? Ma...

Re: Daiwa Coastal

I've used this from my inshore casting for reds/etc. to throwing sting silvers on 12.5' distance surf rods. No full size poon, but I have a blast throwing it.

Re: Daiwa Ryoga, Millionaire, Coastal, Lexa...?

Thanks for the response Barramaniac. How would you compare casting distance between that ryoga and your steez a?

Daiwa Ryoga, Millionaire, Coastal, Lexa...?

I know this is primarily a FW Bass forum, at least I assume such, but wanted to get some opinion from those that know Daiwa, as I'm limited in their reels. I'm after 1 or 2 new reels to use for my inshore/saltwater flats hunting. Primarily bull reds in fall, but every so often when conditions are go...

Re: Chronarch 150G vs Met MGL and Chronarch 150G in saltwater...

I’m in very similar situation. Love using casting for Inshore, and spending more time chasing reds in skinny water than freshwater bass these days. Looking for that reel that casts a mile and is durable enough for the salt. Had recent conversation with Bantam1...his reply to one of my questions was:...

Re: Chronarch 150G vs Met MGL and Chronarch 150G in saltwater...

Very interested in this thread...and somewhat reflects my concern. I went back and forth on whether I should try the latest met mgl for general use...including inshore...as the comments on it's casting distance have been impressive. I have a couple of DC reels, Antares 16 and the 17 Exsense...where ...

Re: New fireline fused 8 carrier

I've been keeping up with this thread's updates as it moves along. I tried the original fireline crystal in 10lb last fall chasing reds on a spinner and was very impressed with the casting. I'm interested in trying this on my shimano dc casting reels...one for general bass fishing and the other for ...

Saltwater durability: Calais DC or Exsence DC

Is there anything about the build of these two reels that would suggest one would be better suited for inshore/wading light surf than the other? Paranoia has kept my Calais freshwater bound, but if if they are both equal in salt durability, that'd save me some money to put towards a new NRX. I'm not...

Re: Fresh water rods for inshore?

Thanks for all the replies. I sincerely appreciate the help. This is exactly what I wanted to hear. Now if I just had the guts to use my Calais DC inshore, I'd really be getting more use out of my money.

Re: Fresh water rods for inshore?

Thanks. Was thinking since there's a distinction made between inshore and fresh, beyond obvious marketing, I was concerned about components such as guides not fairing to well in the salt environment. I guess that's not the case.

Fresh water rods for inshore?

Giving thought to trying a St Croix LExtreme. I'd like to use in inshore application as well to get biggest bang for buck. What do you guys think? Bad idea, or stupid question all together?

Thanks
