Re: Mono Vs Fluoro

I have seen some fluoros in the early days that were less visible than mono.......at certain angles to the light, sections of fluoro would look much thinner, almost as if it was disappearing. It was like camouflage mono. However, the fluoros I have seen in recent years appear more white? So perhaps ...

Re: The most manageable and limpest fluoro-coated copoly

Believe it or not, fluoro-coated mono does nothing over mono - there is not enough fluorocarbon content to "do" anything. It's a marketing gimmick.

If you want a manageable line, try Trilene XL or Spiderwire EZ mono (They are about the same).

Re: Saltstrong abrasion test

I'm not going to look at the test because I don't care - but did they test wet or dry? - that can change everything. Yes, I have seen some monos more abrasion resistant than some Fluoros. However, fluoro abrasion resistance trumps most monos. It depends on what model of line you are looking at. And ...

Re: Stretching flourocarbon line

Sure, I sometimes stretch my fluorocarbon before I go fishing, it reduces memory.

Sometimes I just wait for a fish to stretch it out!

For best results, wet the line AND stretch it.

Re: Boat shoes

Skechers has a huge lineup of men's sport shoes, including boat shoes, and just about every tread design and style you could imagine, at bargain prices. That's the only place I buy shoes anymore.

Re: Is it the rod or the reel?

Even though I'm a rod manufacturer I would say the reel is more important.

That said, you don't have to spend $400.00 to get a good reel.

Re: Smaller Spinning Reels

Smaller and lighter is almost always better. It tends to improve sensitivity, and less weight equals less fatigue which equals more fun.

Re: Is it true that US and Japanese line manufacturers have different lb rating system

Yes..... Europe and Asia choose their line by diameter. They are smarter than us. Physics tells us that most of the line properties are in the diameter. U.S. customers go by pound test.... so in America, all a manufacturer has to do is put 16lb. test line in an 8lb. box to lay claim to the strongest...

Re: What do you use for topwater line?

Berkley Ironsilk. It floats, casts farther, and lasts longer than regular mono.

Re: Bigger Bass and Personal Best...???

Location helps a lot. My favorite spot today is a 1,000 acre "invisible" lake. It's not listed on the map (I don't know why?), and there is no boat ramp! Very little fishing pressure. I catch 7 to 13 lb. bass every other trip. It's like cheating!

Re: 6" Senkos - How do you fish yours ?

Weightless, nose-hooked.

Weightless: because they are sinking, you don't need a weight. A bullet weight just drags the worm into the bottom behind it.

Nose hooked: for more hookups. Texas rigging is evil

Re: stren fluorocast?

After fishing the Florocast for a few months, it just does not hold up as well as a premium Fluro. It would be okay if you changed it after 2 trips, or used it for finesse fishing. I can't worry about finesse here, the fish are too big in my lake, lol.... last weekend I landed another big one, about...
